Book ordered based on your endorsement. I hope it sheds some light on the ordeal of AVP-24.

USS Chincoteague AVP-24 is mentioned on about 32 pages according to the Index.

I don't have the book, yet, but the author forwarded the Table of Contents, Appendices list, list of maps and Index.

The author sought me out, which is kinda flattering.

i also put another 2 unfinished ships of the same scale, but of a different kind (Cannon class destroyer escort and an DER conversion of an Edsall Class) which also served the Philippine Navy in the 1970s up to the 80s

This looks great, Brayski! Great job on the helo deck!

thank you Carl, but i have some bad news, as of now the ship is destroyed :( it was mistaken as a toy by my friends' children. I am going to re-build her together with the other DE's i have that were also destroyed huhuhu

Any idea on the paint scheme for USS Barnegat from commissioning until she had MS-12 in 1942?

Since the site appears down, does anyone know where I can order the Half Moon Conversion Kit? I've been looking to do one of her late war, since my grandfather served on her, but she's different in the aft end than the Mackinac kit.

I found this wonderful video of PT Boats at Leyte Gulf and it starts out with a great clip of what looks to be the USS Wachapreague AGP-8.

The video is on the YT Channel of Battleship Cove Museum in Boston, MA.

Great find. Thanks! I saw an opening scene on a Smithsonian film that showed an AVP with what looks like the same pattern.

After about 7 years of no modeling, here is my first project since then.

USS San Pablo AVP-30 with new scratch-built parts and cast in resin.

Hey Carl,
Nice work on the mast. Clean as usual.

As to the status of the Cook Inlet, well let's just say that it stalled for a couple of reasons. First, we had acquired way too much detailed information on the AVP's for someone like me that thrives on detail. I found that I was adding detail that when you get out from under magnification no one was actually going to be able to see. Needed to work out some sort of moderation. And that lead into the second issue, which is a sever case of modeler's block. Just haven't been able to build up enough interest to put in the push needed to finish her.

But, I was looking at her earlier in the week and thinking that I really need to get back in the saddle and get moving.

I'll keep you updated on progress.

Cheers

Bruce,

I know exactly what you mean about having too, much information on the details and wanting (needing) to add all of it to the model. I also know about modeler's block. It happened suddenly for me and lasted about 5-7years. When I faced having to build 3 AVPs for the Norfolk Pier 2 diorama, I froze and dreaded having to add the details to all three.

I now keep telling myself, "One Part At A Time."

"Just keep putting 'One Turret in Front of the Other'." and you'll make it to the end. :cool_2:
