Although post war, these vessels look very similar to the late WW2 Vosper MTB's, especially the 73' as made by WEM. Whilst down in the west country of England, Somerset to be precise, I was walking around a very picturesque harbour at Watchet. I looked over the harbour wall down into the marine and was surprised to see a 40mm Bofors gun right below me. I was then even more surprised to look to the sides and see the rest of a Gay class Motor Torpedo Boat, built from 1952-54. This particular one is 'Gay Archer'.

Haha, I was thinking the same myself! Would love something similar - if you're going to have a speedboat, why not have one with style

I'm sorry to be taking over with this idea and picture, but since we were on the subject, I thought it would be a good idea.
Wouldnt it be a good idea to have purpose built MTBs today, to protect from incidents like what happened last year? I've designed a modern "corvette" I think would be good for the purpose, but I just didn't include the whole radar suite.

The ramp going down the stern is for one of those modern 'torpedo' drones in operation. The gun could just be stripped from some old ships on the scrap heap or in the mothball fleet. on the decks on the starboard and port sides, I intended to put a Bushmaster 25mm or an M2 .50 cal. Over the ramp is an awning, and an eraser shaving.

Oh, and please, keep in mind that I'm not much of a modern ship kind of person, the drawing honestly being from one of my own personal PT Boat designs

That, Sir, is a beauty!

I'm sure that an LSD with a well deck filled with these would be very effective off Somalia.
