1/700 HYUGA 1928

Basically the hull is half scratch building, some under-waterline parts are from
Fujimi's 1/700 ISE kit and have been modified.

I made the PE turrets because Fujimi's turrets of ISE Class are not in correct shape. The upper armor is made of 5 armor plates but not three. What�s more, PE�s able to emphasis details of armor plates placement.





Although according to the alteration record the torpedo defence nets were removed in 1927, the net-supporting sticks and side walks can still be seen in fotos of her 1928 appearance.

That is a LOT of brass! For a 1/700 model, this is too nice!! Foot rails and rivets on the funnel make me frustrated as to why I cannot do it in 1/350! I assume you drew all the PE parts? I would love to get some tips of how to start, as it will be helpful for my scratch-build projects.
I can't wait to see how it turns out after a coat of primer!

When you cut down those rails from the frame, mind the linking parts. Leaving some �long feet� on the rails and digging some small holes on the funnel or whatever parts will help you assemble them easily. For me, drawing and using PE parts make the situation even more simple for what I have to do is just drawing some holes on funnels and some �long feet� on rails and sticking in. This is so easy that I can even make rails almost thin and small enough to fit the scale.?feet on my PE rails are 0.2mm long while the actual dimension is 14cm?

The wooden decks are not products on sell. Most wooden deck goods for small scale ships from the supplemental market are failed to fit the scale so i didn't use them.?in 1/700 they usually make the intervals as wide as 0.4 mm while i consider the acceptable width should be at least less than 0.3mm because for the IJN war ships the actual dimension of the wood pieces are just 14-17cm wide ?

I can't find any fotoes of the ISE Class in 1920s or early 1930s clearly showing this part but, the structure of these two floors is very similar?not only similar in appearance but functionally? to the same part of KONGO Class in corresponding years so I made the voice pipes on the back according to a foto of HIEI in late 1920s.
