Wow!!! The level of detailing here is on another level.
Your home-made PE looks fantastic. The hangar and the planes are also fantastic.
I'll follow this with great interest.

Akagi must be one of the most complex carrier projects one can embark on...

That PE is very impressive! I would have thought there is plenty of PE for 1/700 Akagi on the market though? But nothing beats home-made (and home-researched) stuff of course... ;)

The cockpit glazing of the aircraft looks especially good. Is it painted PE over plastic clear part?

Thanks. It's painted PE filled with clear painting X-22.

+1!

Did you use some putty to perfect their fit to the hull?
When adding PE canopies to 1/700 aircraft some years ago, I remember I had to do that here and there to get rid of any 'steps' between the frames and hull sides.

Completely over the top for 1/700!!! Can't even begin to imagine how you did that. :thumbs_up_1:

No. I used the thin cement to soften the plastic canopie area and then pressed the PE parts into it. Still, sandpaper is needed to fix the shape.
And that's one of the Pros using steel to make the PE sets. You can press it hard not being worried about destroying its shape. :heh:

Thanks Aphres! :thumbs_up_1:

The glazing looks fantastic too! Did you do that with Kristal Klear?

Thanks!
I used acrylic varnish(Tamiya X-22 clear) to do it because it does no harm to the paint surface. The clear drops will infiltrate into the cockpit through the gaps of the PE part. As the clear solidifies it shrinks so I had to repeatedly fill clear into the cockpit until it was full. (It took me hours OTL) Lastly matte paint is needed to make it less shining.

Hi, dear all!
Here is the new progress.
As the bridge made last year is not so satisfying I decided to make a new one with all PE parts.

Image
The most challenging parts of making this tiny building are the voice pipes, which I have done awlfully on my last bridge, making them looked chaotic. Although PEizing the parts provides accurate shape of them, its still a lot of hard work to assemble them.

Some nice metalwork here. The new island/bridge looks fantastic. I had to do a double check on the scale: yes, it is 1/700. Good work.
