This build is going to be the USS Catamount as she appeared in the 1960-61 time frame. My daughter-in-law's grandfather served on her so I am building it for him. Her grandfather is actually an old friend of mine as well by coincidence. I am using the Blue Ridge Models 1/700 USS Comstock kit for this build. The kit looks very nice so far. Everything looks well casted and well detailed. The PE is very nice as well. The 1960 configuration will be without a lot of the weapons from the WWII configuration and there will be some other mods necessary. She won't be 100% accurate but should be reasonably close when I finish. The ship will be waterline and in a sea base. Here are some basic pics of the kit. I will get more detailed pics of the parts and some progress pics shortly.

A couple more pics of the kit and parts. Lots of nice detail on the kit. A bit of flash and some clean up needed but not too bad. Also one pic of her in the appropriate configuration for my time frame.

Quick question for anyone who may know. The weapons/guns in the tubs on either side of the bridge in this picture. What are they? Are they the twin 3 inch mounts used during the 60's or something else? I know it is a small pic but maybe someone on here knows. Thanks in advance.

They're quad 40mm Bofors.

Finally found some time to work on this one a bit. Here are a couple pics of the main hull after being primed. I have started painting the hull, decks, and parts of the superstructure but haven't uploaded the pics yet. I also have been modifying the areas necessary for the 1960 fit. I hope to have more pics later this weekend. I really like the amount of detail on the kit and the instructions are very detailed compared to the ISW resin kits I have done.

Finally found some time to do a little work on this one. Did more painting on the hull and added some of the PE rails and doors to the well deck and bow. I also have been working on the deck and parts of the superstructure. Hope to have updates on that progress soon.

Got a little more done on this one. Did some work on the main deck. Had to do quite a bit of filling and sanding since the fit was rather poor. It turned out pretty decent. Needs more painting and some PE bits here and there.

Finally got this one off the back burner and started working on her again. Should have some updated pictures in the next few days.
