Woah! Nice job on those cage antennae, they look awesome! I am curious as to how you end up getting them on the model as well, looking forward to the update!

Hi Andy :wave_1:
question, what type of adesive have you used to attach the disc's to the fishing line, the reason i ask is i have to find a medium to fabricate the star arieal cage array for Dreadnought. I know how i'm going to replicate the star's but what is the best medium for the wire's i have still to decide, some glues as you know hate certain types of material so i'm trying to work out the best solution in advance as i would hate to stall the project at the last hurdle.

woah replies! :woo_hoo:

Ryan: im afraid my first attempt to mount them ended in the usual disaster, the problem is i have to keep the wires under tension during construction, so when i remove them to add them to the ship they loose tension and end up looking pretty rubbish :/ anyway currently re-working them so will try something new and see what we come up with :)

roy: i use flat acrylic varnish to fix the rings to the fishing wire, it doesn't eat the plastic wire like plastic glues or CA would and dries completely invisible, hope that helps :)

Very nice cage aerials... I made some in 700 scale for my Tiger a couple of years ago... The problem with the things collapsing when released from the jig was one I well know!

You Can get them back though... but it causes a much more severe problem... you have to pull them back to more or less the same tension as when they were in the jig... and as I used monofil they were under enough tension to stretch, but in order to stretch them back to the original shape you put so much stress on the yards they bend... Not nice.

Here is a picture or two to illustrate the problem..

Under construction

One set fitted...

When I added the second line the top yard bent to almost 30 degrees off horizontal... do disaster! Someday I will rebuild the whole rigging!

See what I mean...

I hope you can help. I am planning a build of the 1/350 scale Greek Armored Cruiser, Georgios Averof. I was searching for ideas on cage aerials and happened upon your post. I am quite impressed with you work thus far, and your aerials look great. Could you tell me what size rings you chose for your aerials? Are they a type of fishing ring?
As I have to create 6 individual aerials that will be connected to one another, before attaching them to spreaders and then between 2 masts, any advice you can provide me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
