WIP: Kriegsmarine Leipzig 1941

Post by Guido »

Gentlemen-

Here's one I have been working on and off since May 2008. Left aside a million bits and bobs still to be added, I making good headway these days. Won't get her finished until Telford next week, though.
Anyway here is the HP Models 1/400 Kriegsmarine Light Cruiser Leipzig. The kit is overal OK, but the money/value isn't what you would expect. Especially since you have to buy at 3 or 4 PE sets from WEM to cover needful things. The kit seems designed straight off the pages of the Profile Morskie, so if you reference these against each other you'll have the perfect kit. However when cross-referencing with other pulications you run into a lot of issues ranging from "tiny" to "not correctable". An added minus is the unpopular choice of scale. I've been trying my best to do the kit and ship justice, but if you look closely you'll detect a lot of issues I didn't address.
In the end the ship will be looking like the Leipzig to the naked eye, which is - IMHO- what counts.

Enjoy!
Cheers,
Guido

Dave-
Can you remember when I bought the kit at Dortmund? That was in 2006 I think, the first time we met at the Intermodellbau.
It's about time this one get finished...
Looking forward to see you at the show!
