I have the island mounted and almost all of the PE attached to it. Still need to do the PE for the directors and the radar plus some touchups on the island. Next up is the 5 inchers and the 20s along the flight deck and the quad 1.1s near the island.

Got the 5 inchers mounted and the base/shield sections for the 20's done. Also got the 1.1's assembled and mounted by the island along with the PE crane. Don't have pics of the 1.1s or the crane yet. Hoping to get the 20's completed tonight along with the .50's. I will grab a few more pics then.

I got the 20's and .50's all finished up last night. They need a little touching up which I will do tonight. I also assembled the PE for the directors last night and will mount them tonight.

Got the rest of the PE work done tonight. The rails and radar are all complete and I also completed the port side aircraft elevator. I got all the rafts, boats, and masts mounted as well. Need to do some touching up and some additional paintwork but she is getting close. I began working on her planes tonight and hope to get the rigging on the island done tomorrow or Sunday.

My favorite aircraft carrier. When will somebody produce it in 1:350? Please?

Got the touch up work done and the rigging on the island. Also did a little wash on a few areas and started working on the aircraft for her. She is mounted to the base and I need to start working on the sea.

The ship is essentially complete minus a few minor touch-ups here and there. I finished the aircraft and mounted them on her. I started working on the sea base and still hope to have everything done by the end of the week. Overall, the kit was very good and went together well. The only fit issue I had was fitting the island to the flight deck. It just would not fit together neatly there. It took some sanding, cutting, and tweaking to make it fit decent. Other than that, a very good kit. The Aoshima PE set for her was very comprehensive and has the stuff to make both the late 42 version or the earlier version of her. The instructions on the PE set were very detailed and all of it went together nicely.

Here are some pics of the instructions for the PE set. The back side of the pages show the differences for the earlier version of her.
