I tried to copy what he has done. Just glad I am doing a early version of BigE. His build puts mine to shame.

Sorry guys.....I guess I've been playing too many video games and haven't spent enough time at the bench. I got a little burned out on doing all the aircraft. Have just been taking a break. I'm sure I will be starting up again soon. I will probably finish a few more Hornets for the hangar so I can get that portion finished.......hopefully soon. I appreciate your comments and your interest in my build. Hopefully I can have something new to share here soon. And Red, you're Enterprise is looking fantastic man.

Your work is beyond impressive! As far as burnout is concerned, I found that keeping a time log and forcing myself to do 10 hours a week keeps the project moving and stops the burnout.

Dear DWD,

I know that it is (especially the effort that you are doing) a very exhausting job and it is good to give a break for such a detailed build. However, I also cannot stop myself asking when you will share some updated pictures. Because watching your build is really like watching a great movie :)

Hey Uzun!

The build is still alive.....sort of..... I have been working on a few things here and there.......but I just kinda stalled out on it for quite a while. I had been building other models just to change things up for a bit. I have been looking everything over again to kick start my motivation. Hopefully I will have some progress to show soon and continue on with this build......hopefully to completion. I honestly cannot believe how long ago I started it......granted, not steady building though. I did purchase some photo etch sets from Eduard.com that are meant for this kit. I am expecting them to arrive any day now........hopefully tomorrow as a matter of fact. There were a lot of detailed parts in those sets that look really good. I believe there are 5 different sets in all, but I only purchased 3 of them as I already had the parts that the other two sets include, so I opted not to buy them. I added the links below in case you wanna check them out.

Well......work finally continues I guess. I remember why I took a break now...... :rolf_3: :rolf_3: :rolf_3: I am continuing work on "mostly building" the aircraft. There is still a lot of work to be done though. I began working on all of the photo etch landing gear doors for the F-14's and F-18's too. I came up short on some of them so I opted just to make my own out of the photo etch "sprue" metal. Tedious....but I didn't want to have to dump anymore money into buying more P.E. aircraft sets just for landing gear doors for specific aircraft while the rest went to waste. Its just a matter of sanding the parts to shape and cleaning up the ones I have now. Each F-18 has about 10 separate landing gear doors and I will have 23 of those for 230 tiny photo etch parts to clean up, just on those alone....that's fun work right there :faint:

Since I was still building the F-18's, I decided I would modify one without one of it's engines since I had the 3d printed ones from Shapeways that I showed earlier in this thread. I also modified the 3d printed engine and put one of my own engine nozzles on that I made that I had been using on my F-18's, just so it looked copacetic with the other one. I will have it placed in one of the openings in the hangar. I also decided to open a refueling probe on another.........which then I decided I had to build a little ladder for maintenance purposes......slippery slope this hobby is for me........one thing leads to another.

I also bought some handy containers to keep each aircraft in its own area with all of its parts so I can keep everything straight at this point with about 60 plus aircraft. :doh_1:

I bought a few more 3d printed items from Shapeways and have painted them too. They are GBU/Jdam (not sure which) bomb crates and Maverik missles on their carts. I made the the tow handles for the Maverik missiles after seeing some photos of them.

2nd portion of update.......

I also worked on the building the E-2C Hawkeye's and the SH-60 Seahawks. I of course did some modifications to both. The photos explain all the mods to the E-2C's. The Seahawks are from Veteran models, I'm sure most everyone has seen them by now. They come as an SH-60B model. There are two different types of Seahawks that were aboard the Enterprise during the 2001 timeframe. SH-60F's and HH-60H's. One modification I made was to remove what I gather to be a round flat radar dome that sits beneath the nose of the helo. The rest of the mods you can see in the photos.

3rd update........

I know this one is pretty random considering I had been working on the aircraft. After I received the Eduard photo etch for the Tamiya Enterprise kit, I wanted to see what the refueling hose reels were gonna look like compared to all the other ones I had (White Ensign, Toms model works, Gold Medal Models, etc....) I opted to use the Eduard hose reels as I liked the size and look of them. I started by building one and the next thing I knew, I was off and running building all of the refueling stations around the flight deck on the catwalks. Each one was built as best I could tell to the reference photos I had. They are not attached yet, still individual stations at this point. I had also purchased some tiny flywheels a while back and got this wild hair that I would try and represent some of the plumbing that can be seen along with the hose reels. Anyway, have a look what I came up with..........
