James,
Kelly mentioned on one of his builds that he thermoformed the canopies with the squadron stuff. Basically sacrificed one aircraft as the master and used it to form the canopies. I left my EA-6's canopies in the down position, but looking back, would have bit the bullet and just thermo'd them.
The weathering on your flight deck is awesome bud

Jim, Blake, thanks for the replies. I saw Kelly's tutorial but Squadron's Thermalform is no longer an item. I've tried to use alternate plastic with NO success. I would give anything to have my Growlers and Prowlers with open canopies but it's not happening. Kelly makes it look so friggin easy and his aircraft are by far the best. Oh well, whatayagonnado.

James,
Great looking build you have going there.
I have a couple of Theraform sheets that you can have if you still want some. Send me your address in a pm and I'll ship them to you.

Thanks Gordon!!! Ok, I really have been working on IKE but small tedious crap that is painfully dull like, painting landing gear on aircraft, about 100 oil drums that will grace the IKE, and although I absolutely LOVE Starfighter decals, cutting them all out individually is less than spectacular. I have all of the hangar aircraft assembled and PE'd, just need final paint and decals. Various hangar gear needs to be built like bomb and missile carts and the like. The SH-60's aren't finished but just placed in the hangar. I haven't figured out where they should go. Any suggestions??

Thanks Nicolas! To show some activity, I decided to have an engine change on an F-18 underway. Seems convincing.

Also nice job folding the wings and moving the vertical stabs. Very impresive.

Hi, Boomstick, I love the little details in the hangars. The forklifts...did they come with the kit or are they after-market?

Thanks for the comments guys. Johnno, the forklifts are from the WASP deck vehicles kit from Admiralty (Jag) which includes the PE. A much better example than the kit parts.

As a helo guy, I did the 2010 IKE cruise with HS-5. All the helos are usually forward in Bay 1. We had 7 helos, 4 SH-60Fs and 3 HH-60Hs. 4 helos where on the roof and 3 in the bay. One was parked parallel to the elevator door just aft of the opening on the staboard side . Another was right behind it Tail to Tail in Bay 2. Those two were the ready up helos if we needed a spare on the roof. The third helo was parked at an angle on the forward port side before the gym overhang of Bay 1, nose to the bulkhead. This was the maintenance position. so that helo was usually torn apart for inspections. hope that helps

Your hangar is shaping up nicely, James! Did you make the canopy for the SH-60, or that's that clear stuff Trumpeter makes some of their planes out of ?
Love it, I'll keep following!
Cheers: Laci

Hi James,
a quick one - is this a special aftermarket - amunition and equipment (boxes, barrels, Tomahawk etc...) at the end of hangar?

I have unused Tomahawk container from the Pontos set for New Jersey, but what about rest stuff?
Thank you.

Thanks Jim. More to come. Max, those tomahawks are from my junk box, just thought they would look cool. The oil drums are from Larsenal USA. The rest are just chopped up bits of styrene.

Incredible work, simply incredible. If I ever build that Nimitz, expect me to flood your PM box on the hanger.

Thanks Chris. Never thought I would ever read such comments about one of my builds. Truly appreciated. And so, there was light. Final adjustments on the hangar as well as lighting. Don't mind the gap around the top, it's not attached yet. Gonna set back and study the hangar for a couple days to make sure I didn't miss anything. The final lighting will not be this bright, when I run two strips of LED's I always install a dimmer to control the intensity. That hasn't arrived yet.
