Re: 1/350 USS Truman
Okay on to the "yellow" gear, even though they are white these days! I of course picked up a set of the Goffy deck tractors so I'll be using those, along with a few of the kit tractors dressed up a bit. I decided to scratchbuild a fire tractor. I did get a set of tractors and a deck scrubber from forum member Tom-Tom, but I couldn't clean up the fire tractors to my satisfaction, so what you see below is completely scratchbuilt. I did use the deck scrubber he provided, with a few added details of my own:

I know like many others, I look forward to seeing your updates. I have a question on technique. I noticed on your EA-6B's you have detail in the folded wings. Is that work just penciled in? Because it's a great effect. Your work is great but also very inventive.

Re: 1/350 USS Truman
I'm being fussy here but the "300" on the nose, the roundel, the "VFA-37" and the "NAVY" look huge, is it normal? It's surprising because the 1/700 Starfighter markings (For CVW-8 at least) are perfectly on scale.Kelly Quirk wrote:Finally finished the air wing!! Man these things bogged me down, I am so glad to have them done. Can't say enough good things about the decals from StarFighter, they worked incredibly well. Here's a sample of the aircraft, now I can finally move on with the ship!

Kelly, maybe it's time for you to make a few masters so everyone can have an accurate set of deck vehicles.

Thanks Jon, yes those details are just penciled/painted in. Easy to do and it adds a lot to the overall effect.Jon wrote:I know like many others, I look forward to seeing your updates. Just finished scratchbuilding the tilly crane. I'm pretty proud of this one:

Still need to add the exhaust stack and of course all the rigging.

The crane and deck equipment are finished:

I'm pretty proud of the crane, just noticed I still need to paint the struts silver at the base of the boom though!

Kelly
You achieve in 1/350 what most guys would love to achieve in 1/72 or higher, fantastic detail
