Simply OUTSTANDING job man! For real. Those things are absolutely sweet looking. I am considering having one aboard my Enterprise as well. I saw a video from 2001 when the Enterprise visited Stokes Bay Portsmouth UK and had one landing aboard. After seeing yours, it's really inspiring. Congratulations on your masterpieces. It's like you just had a baby or something and should probably start handing out cigars! :heh: They look great dude. :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

I guess this is where my knowledge runs out. What's a 27C?
But thanks for the inspirational words, Red!

Thanks to all of you guys! Really! I aim to please, and I can't believe I am pulling it off. especially with all the talent in the room . When I started this whole project I promised myself that I build something that people will look at , at least, twice. I had no idea how I was gonna do it, but I sure picked up a lot of the answers from you, fellow builders here!

DWD: your responses always make me laugh. But we got a lot of jokers here besides Doug. It's awesome that you guys are equally talented modelers!

Doug: I do treat these little guys like babies, man! They are just so effing adorable! Bronco sure did an excellent job!!!! I absolutely love the idea of you putting one of these on your Big E! They are visiting carriers all the time!
Mine are delivering boxes to the Nimitz, since North Star's figure set has 2 guys lifting crates.

I added the scratched ramp and the tail-rotor today. The tail rotor is made up of the original hub from the kit, but the blades are pieces of PE fret. I also tilted the blades outward, as they are seen on some photos, when they are resting. I may have overdone it on '556', but oh well, I guess the Nitrogen level is also off in those tires.....
Now it's just getting those main rotors done, and we got 6.5% of the airwing DONE !!!! :woo_hoo:

Thanks again for you guys' support!!!

Cheers: Laci

P.S.: I am pouring all my heart and soul into these Sea Dragons, because there are ONLY 2 of them! I still have no idea how I am going to keep up this level of detail for 10 each of the other planes... :cry_3:

Laci,

This build has been one of my favorites that I've stumbled upon since joining. I am gearing up to build the Big E, which I grew up watching in Alameda. Your build, while lightyears out of my league, is highly informative and instructive! Thank you for all these posts and the documentation. Please keep it coming, too! :thumbs_up_1:

Would love to see you post a small tutorial on your weathering techniques (my favorite ever!)...
:woo_hoo:

Thanks Derek and Red!
You guys and your kind words keep me going, that's for sure! Although in the summer this hobby is replaced with outdoor activities (such as getting skin cancer and freezing in arctic lakes and helping Santa to gear up for Christmas) I am working on the airwing a little bit at a time.
As for the weathering: I didn't take tutorial photos back then, but if you guys like reading (with my ADD I sure don't:) then I did post some explanations as to possibly why or how I lucked out during the painting process.
On page 6 of this thread I go on about the hull weathering, and on page 10 I waste everyone's time by explaining the deck painting technique I used.
If all that doesn't help, drop me a line. Or 2. But no more than 300.

Everyone, go outside and enjoy the nice, natural, worm/hot cancer-causing sunshine! :cool_1:

Cheers: Laci

Laci'

AWSOME JOB MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Those 53's look great, and the "Sea Dragons" is the squadron we use to land on board the KITTY HAWK to bring cargo and mail when the COD couldn't make it. Again great job, brought back so cool memories dude. Thanks.

P/S the dio is lighting up, literally. :woo_hoo: :woo_hoo: :woo_hoo:

Really like this thread and check on it often. What paint did you use for you 53s? The tone is just perfect.
