Again a Nicolas show ... an awesome show of what all can be improved with normal accessoirs like Plastik sheet & Co. and not only huge PE frats. Great job! :-)

thank's Christian and Kometa

Christian, quite in agreement with you,not need to "explode" his wallet ,with the half price of the "super PE plank that goes well" I'm equip with the evergreen enough to "tinker" 2 to 3 ship
but it is obvious that the PE is essential for certain things (railing, radars, etc etc)
cheers

Hi gents
thanks Christian !
a small error is slipped into my latest transformations, I cite
"openings 5 on the starboard side and 7 on the front" hey well all wrong !.... at least ,mainly on the front face, the exact number is 6, error that I corrected immediately:-)

Image

The superstructure at the rear of the chimney is amputated these two "wings"

Image

et les cloisons sont refaits en carte plastique

Image

to show you the next steps, a larger view

Image
in A ,the platforms of 100 mm that I will redone, starting from a plan of Mr Dumas
in B ,Mr Dumas, represents bulwarks surrounding the 37 mm CAD ,for the moment I have no confirmation their presence on photos, but I do not despair to find them
cheers
Nicolas

Nicolas,

J'ai quelques questions ...
Ok, even I can French so far too, better in English :-)

1)
With which tools are you making all these correct additions and replacements in platicsheet?
I mean, they look awesone, no doubts, but also 105% correct and clean made. Do you have any plans about or how do you make it?

2)
I see here (again?) that you replace the aft turrets with resin items, why?
Are the turrets in kit full of errors or have any other problems why you do?

3)
I saw at a friend that there exists a blue-grey coloured replacement deck in aftermarket, was this deck used later?

Cheers,
Christian

Christian

I'll try to answer correctly, with "my" English ,and especially if I understands well :-)

in 1
for my cutouts, i use the scalpels and razor blades and especially this
Image
yes, I have plans of various origins, the plan of AAMM essential (Associations des Amis du Musée de la Marine) the monographie of Robert Dumas (very very essential),the french battleships of J.Jordan and R.dumas ,origins plans from SHM (Service Historique de la Marine ) profile morskie N° 26 of Maciej S.sobanskie ,and private photographs gleaned here and there, and others origins........

in 2
the turrets of origins lack of details ,this is why I have redone

in3

for the blue deck , it is valid for the camouflaged version of 1943 (US measure 32)
I hope to have answered your questions correctly:-) do not hesitate, for other questionings
Cherrs
Nicolas

Hi Nicolas,
It's always a pleasure to follow your work. I have a chopper almost the same as yours. The chopper makes cutting gussets and anything you need multiples of the same length an easy task.

Hi Nicolas,
as I see there are only few items of the original kit remaining in your modell. An amazing and stunnig work how you build up your Richelieu. Following your thread is always insipiring and encouraging staying with this "surgery" modelling, including heavy scratchbuilding.
Fantasitic work!

With best regards

Peter

HI all

thank's for your kind comments!a little progress on my Richelieu
an air vent in the oblique portion of the chimney, has been forgotten by Trumpy!on my first mounting,I did not make a copy in resin,
this time around I make a (for a 3 richelieu ??? :-) )

Image

a copy in place

Image

for the version after 43 the chimney and the superstructures ,have this aspect

Image

Image

but for the 1940 version a litlles differences exist,in particular, this block under the platform

Image

the block in place whith the new platfom and thebeginning modifications blocks aerators

Image

giving a different appearance (more conform)to the whole

see you soon

Hi le bosco, there are two pics, the first one is from jean bart, and i especially observe her basal part of chimney which seems like pyramidal and more oval like contour. the second one is my sketch about the elusive part under the platform, which i suppose it to be a standard cylinder with two wing like yardarms and aisles between them。The info about the cylinder structure are scarce, but I surmise it from 1935 the original plan of "serive historique".Thanks for your suggestions

Hello Nicolas,

Wow, nice progress and a very well done and clean work! May I missed that before, but how do you bend all the curved bulwarks?
TIA for your support!

Hi all

to reply to Sirmaumau ,in my last post ,the configuration under the platform, corresponds to the Year 41 (may), indeed, under the platform in 1940 (upon arrival to Dakar) the Richelieu is not completly finished ,especially the chimney

Image

the "round" corresponds to the base of the rangefinder armored
the poses of yardarms and of D.E.M antennas (Detection Electro Magnétique) (green arrows)allows me us to date the progress of finishing under the platform (may 41)

Image

if not, for the base of the chimney, on my first Richelieu ,I did not make the correction, but ,on this one,I adjusted and profiled the thick plastic card on the front face (and rear face)

Image

Image

"the dressing" in place with putty

Image

the front and rear aftet the "treatment"

Image

Image

Image

the effect without being of more consistent with the reality,is pleasant to the eye

Christian ,to the next platform, promised, I detail how to make the bulkheads (if I understand your question :-) )
cheers
Nicolas
