I noticed you put 2 M1 Abrams on each LCAC. FYI LCACs can only carry one at a time, and even that is pushing their limit. They have to get special written authorization to move an M1 every time they do it, because Abrams are so heavy.

This is a shockingly well done build. Please keep the updates coming. She and her load out are turning out great!

Let me add my praise of your build. I'm also building the Wasp, though I'm not taking it on as a waterline build and I'm certainly am not up to lighting the lower decks. Good work. I love what you did with the Highback Humvees. I'm going to be converting one of them into the ambulance variant.

Great work and keep those photos coming!

Phil

Hi i will be doing this 1 later in the year started the 1/350 hancock and planning to do lexington next getting more experience as i go.But i would like to know are you using th PE that came with it or is there other PE avalible for it.Your build looks awesome something i will not be able to achieve your hanger deck looks 100%real .

regards anthony

Anthony,

Thank your for your compliment. I'm using both the kit's PE and the set released a few months ago by KA models. The kit comes with a very basic PE set, so I opted to get an aftermarket set as well. I can wholeheartedly recommend the KA set. WEM is also coming out with a set very soon.

Thanks very much for the info! I did not know that. Fortunately, I just set the M1's in there for the picture to show how they would look. I will make sure to put the M1's on the LCU's instead. Thanks again, I really appreciate having people on the board who know what the real things look like!

As a point of accuracy and not criticism, an LCAC can only carry one M1A1 Abrams at a time. An Abrams is pushing the capabilities of the LCACs as it is. Two would be 2x their capacities. Only thought you would like to know if you wanted to be an accuracy hog.

But, man, she's looking so beautiful. I can't wait to see more.

Sorry, I've had a sort of interruption of my Wasp project for several reasons. I've started work on it again, and hopefully now I will be able to keep it up until it's done.

I've done some more work on the ship itself, including the aft section and some of the catwalks and platforms.

Fortunately, MRC finally came out with supplemental aircraft for the airwing. I snatched a couple boxes up, as well as the aircraft PE set from White Ensign. I've been working on the airwing, starting with the Harriers. I've also decided to make some scale ordnance to go with them.

File comment: The AIM-9 missile in proper 1:350 scale. Kind of difficult to make, but hopefully will look good on the finished Harriers

Wow is this looking good!!!
I had the privilege of watching my son pull in yesterday on the USS Bataan.
It is one impressive ship, and your build is doing it justice.

Good to hear your son is home safe. It was alway a thrill for me to watch my father return from deployments. But in thise days the were no major war zones.

I'm building mine as teh bataan. I plan to start my own thread soon.

Nice work on teh harriers. I'll need to make some soon to populate the hanger. Well deck done so far
Dave

I'm working on the v-22's as well, and i thought it would be fun to pose one with the rear doors open. I decided to make a basic interior for the little bit you're going to be able to see from the rear. I'm using WEM's photo etch set for the aircraft, so there's a cockpit assembly to put in the front. It will be interesting to see how much of the cockpit you can see through the windows on the finished product.
