Thanks Guys :thumbs_up_1:

Rodney's aircraft crane from the Pontos set. Think I may run a line from the hook back to the crane winch. It's a pain in the ass to build, but Pontos did a beautiful job even if it tested my sanity.

Seaplane catapult cradle. Pontos includes some hollow tubes that plug into the PE end pieces.

neat stuff-!!

-- the flared tubes on top aft of the main crane

what is their purpose?
exhausts??

I would guess at a guide for a moving cable...?
though none of the other cables appear to need that?

a ( very ) quick sweep of the net got me this image
poor quality and not helpful...

Buffers to avoid the crane from being elevated too much; there's a small square pad on the gantry too.

Hello

Image
Sovereign Hobbies Draught Markings compared to the Pontos dry transfers. The Trumpeter fails provide any markings draught markings, so this is handy for option to add them or upgrade from what Pontos includes.

Image
Installed on the bow and set with MicroSol. Excellent decals well worth the effort.

Stern

Main anchor chain dunked in AK Photoetch Burnishing then sprayed with Alclad Steel. Got to figure out what to use for the smaller support chains.

Greetings all.

Image
Crane painted and mounted
Image
The hawse pipe does not allow the anchor to come up through the channel. I don't know if you could grind a little to fix it or not. Not going to mess with at this stage.
I think the big cleats are on backwards too.

Micro Master Carley Floats added to middle turret.

Looks impressive--and huge!!

ref ,,,
,>>> The hawse pipe does not allow the anchor to come up through the channel. I don't know if you could grind a little to fix it or not.<<<<

simple solution==> don't even think of grinding...!

remove anchors-- keep the top of the stock shank attached to the chain - cut away a section of the shank => in the middle where it is invisible in the hawsepipe--- and then glue the ( maybe adjusted backs of ?) anchors into the anchor hawsepope mouth-- with white glue--to allow wriggle and adjust ( I do similar in 1/700 )

>>> I think the big cleats are on backwards too.<<<

alas the fairleads seem indeed to be reversed.

Most casual observers would not notice--but you did and I saw it too...
They could removed at deck level with a micro saw/ sharp blade==> whilst there are no rails in place
and swapped over ... or not...!

As the casting base stands proud of the hull--if you did remove them-- and reinstalled and gap-filled with white gluer or similar--they could easily
be repainted to match with a brush to the edge of the ' casting..'.

Bon chance!

Thanks Jim, that is definingly doable. The other thing I was considering was to let them dangle from the chain. I would stagger the twin anchors against the hull, but maybe that would look dumb.

Thanks SG1. Took Jim's advice with the anchors.

Image
Front anchor needs adjustment.

Need to see if I can get some better chain tension. It's harder with the Pontos resin support chains.

Thanks for the help Jim, am happy in the way they turned out. Couple more assemblies done. My Dane pup scratched my eye taking me out for several days.
