Is your hull flat and straight? I have two hulls for this kit and both are bannas, I am hestant to heat them to straighten them because of the hangar deck, will the hangar walls be deformed? but at least I have a spare if the first is messed up too much

Wow, that looks like it has a huge hump in the middle of the deck.

I was on Inchon the same time, We relieved you guys at Rota in Feb 80. You may remember they took you stb. elevator off and gave it to us and they put our messed elevator on your flightdeck to bring back to the states. We collided with the Speigle Grove LSD 32 on the way to Rota.

Anyway i been thinking about one of these but I been scratchbuilding an Inchon in 1:192. I will follow this build, keep the pics coming.

Yeah I do remember that. The lift was maybe the only thing that work right on the bucket.

Hey gtbred!
This looks like a very interesting subject!!!
I just recenly found out about this Iron Shipwrites Company, and they sure make models of alot of unique planes and ships. But I couldn't help noticing that their accuracy and level of detail is not really anything outstanding. I don't want to sound negative and I am also here to ask for a bit of a review of the overall kit, but I though that for over $400 they provide a ship that will leak freaking oil and smell like seawater! After all they are using RESIN, the material that would be perfect for casting hair-thin detail, and what I always miss on plastic kits: the oil-canning effect of the real ships. resin is perfect for that. It would also be perfect for casting paper thin vertical fins, elevators and other details for their aircraft, but instead they look too awkward, and out of shape. So my ultimate question is: did these guys really brought out everything they could using resin, or another company can just injection mold this kit to the same level of detail and half the price? (like MRC did with their USS Wasp) But I must say ISW makes really nice looking deck tractors, so I ordered a set, I can let you know how they are.
otherwise, I am looking forward to this build, it is a very neat subject, I am sure you turn into something very pleasing to the eye! godspeed!
I was very happy to learn that you actually served on the real thing too! I always wanted to serve on US carriers but my ancestors lived in the wrong country for that..

cheers: Laci

Hey Guys, finally got photos of the hangardeck from a guy that serve on the Guam. They are old 35mm pics so the color are faded. Any how wll start on the build this weekend. Laci ISW are a great company, awhile back order a kit from them and got the wrong hull. They told me to keep the hull and send me the correct one no charge. As far as detail it's good, they give you room to add your own. I have 5 Tonkin Gulf Warriors from them. Uss Barry DD-933,Uss Hoel DDG-13,Uss Chicago CG-11,Uss Okinawa LPH-3 and Uss San Jose AFS-7.

That's gonna be a nice addition to your collection. Nice start on it. Seems that resin pieces that large would require a lot of cleanup. I'd have to bust out my dremel to clean up those resin blocks!
