Building a 700 scale Garbage Scow. So what have I learned so far. Vallejo primer goes on pretty good from the airbrush. Unfortunately it also peels of in sheets like white glue. When you mask you can literally rip whole sections off the model. Thats a little frustrating. grrr.

Well painting progressed and as far as railings before I think. Those windows look a but rough. After a couple of hours I shave them off and replace with some IJN window frame and aber doors. Dont do this at home kids. A nightmare not ripping off all those railings. but I think it looks better now.

Hulls Vallejo black grey. looks darker than I planned. unsure as to lighten it now or bank on the white oils filter to do that at the weathering stage. mmmm. unsure.

Forgive the rough paint job. its not by any means close to finishing and Im well aware its rough as guts . lol.

Your comments are welcome :)

I cannot really comment on accuracy of my model as such-I merely copied a few images of the type I found on the 'net at the time....

A small update for a small ship. Thanks for the pics Jim :)

So Ive changed the vents to ones made of solder. slightly thicker. Building that rear railing for the rear canopy cover wasnt easy .Ive used annealed 10thou brass and the additional struts of stretched sprue So still not finished but getting closer now.

Some of the deck ladders in place now and its starting to look more the business :)

Cute little boat! Very nice execution of the works. Love the detailing, not easy at such a scale!

Allan,
That ship looks great.

I've tried something similar but not well built.

So now Ive moved on a bit. Essentially complete. about ready to gloss cote and then weather in oils. filters , pin wash and dry brush as per David Griffiths book. Until all thats done the colors look a bit flat and toy like. But its getting there :)

That awning at the back!! man that was hard. The hoops annealed brass and the struts stretched sprue. lol.

Your views welcome. I think its not coming out too bad for my first resin baby :)

Finally finished. It won the South Island New Zealand nationals in class last month.
Weathering, Hi lights and shadowing with oils. Rigging with Ceanis line.
Currently on a temporary base while it waits for a harbor diorama to sit in with an unfinished battlecruiser project.

Model was so small I built it sitting on the end of a tongue depressor like your doctor uses. lol. 700 scale is the only scale! At least until I cant see through my optivisor. ;)

Wow! Really... just WOW!

I'm almost afraid I might crush the railings just by looking at pictures of it! :worship_1:
