Good morning all, this is my attempt at Combrigs Indefatigable class battlecruiser HMAS Australia. I'm still learning this small scale resin ship building thing and have been looking at how some of you guys have done your WW1 big gun ships to work out how to get this together. I've only really been working on the forward sturcture at this point but its nearly finished and I'm pretty happy with how its looking, but if anyone sees something I have done wrong please let me know.

Hi Callum.

Nice work and watching this build :wave_1: .

Nice bit of rigging if I may say so for such a small scale.

Cheers Capt-P :cool_2:

Agreed on the rigging. Nice work! I've always liked the Indefatigable class with their unconventional turret layout.

Thanks for the kind comments folks they are much appreciated. I'm a bit in awe of the 700 scale SMS Derfflinger build going on in work in progress. How does he get that kind of detail, it is beyond me , but then I've only gone from plane modeling to ships a year ago and am still learning (I have no idea what half these bits are on all these etched sets I have :) )
So thanks once again for the comments its good encouragement . I'd be gratefull for any hints or tips anyone may have
Cheers Callum
And G'day to you Capt'n Sir. Thanks for following here as well and I think I know where your insperation for Victory has come from :)

Where in Oz are you?. Ship modellers in this country are as rare as hens teeth.
I reside in Sydney, so if nearby, let me know. No one to share this great hobby with
in this neck of the woods.

I'd agree - mostly US / Canada on board here with a bit of Europe.

Downunder isn't common

But I will say - what great work - esp on the rigging at that scale :thumbs_up_1:

Have to agree, I'm in Adelaide and have found no-one here to share ship building with.
If there is anyone in Adelaide, I'd like to here from you....

G'day fella's :) I'm a Melbourne boy, just down the road from the wreck of the Cerberus. I was born in Sydney many moons ago now though. I was a bit suprised at how few builds there are online of Aussie ships. As I said I've only really gotten into the ships a year ago and spent that time working on a couple of RAN crusiers and destroyers in a dock setting from the 1930's
(I'm building Australia to take a break from that). I'm not sure how long the ship building bug is going to last for I'm still buying aircraft kits. But I have ideas for Sydney 1 and after seeing a couple of 1900's RN Destroyer builds by a gentleman in the scratch building section, looking at making my own Aussie River class to go in a Pre WW1 RAN dio and then if that goes okay I'll try a 1870's Port Phillip scene with Cerberus and another atempt at building my own ship of the Victorian Navy.
Just to show this isn't wishfull thinking on my behalf, this is my other project.

So I'm doing my best to fly the flag for the RAN in the modelling world
Thanks for looking and the comments
Cheers Callum
And yeah shes gotta pretty funky look about her

So a bit more of an update. I've redone the boat deck and derick on the aft structure to fix some mistakes and try and busy things up a bit. I've also pretty much finished the center structure although getting the boats and derick there to play together didn't go so well but they are there. Also got the anchor chains and bollards and the wave break thing attached. chains don't have as much paint as I thought they did though seeing the photo.

So shes getting there. Thanks for looking and more soon

She looks absolutely gorgeous, your build is crisp like you've been building in this scale for years, not your first model. You are also really making me want to get one of these beauties. Keep up the good work!

Man, look at that rigging! great work so far. Looks like she's nearly done. Just main turrets and a few other finishing touches.

Thanks for the comments gents, they are much appreciated. Its not my first model but first year of building ships.
Not much to go, I'm waiting on brass barrels for the main guns, I made an enquiry into them last night and turns out my order didn't get through so they should be here in a couple of weeks now. The main parts are the rails, finish the rigging and the area around the boat davits and the torpedo nets and booms along the sides and a couple of other details.
Hopefully have it all done by the time the barrels arrive
