Hi,

I did not waste any time, and start building the Fridtjof Nansen Frigate F310 RNoN (Royal Norwegian Navy) produced by Dodo Models 1/700.
A highly detailed resin model, but still with space to some improvements over the original model in order to create a more realistic and customized model.

Although the original model does not include PE, Dodo Models is producing an upgrade set for this model!
I'm looking forward to know what items are included in this set before carry on other modifications,

Nevertheless, and so far, I fixed about 10 vertical PE ladders and a few yardmasts on the fwd structure as well on the fwd main funnel.
Also visible on the first photo is the navigation radar on top of the bridge as well as other modifications on the mast on top of the fwd structure.
The roof bridge will also receive an extra Dome (BB)

Also the hangar roof needs some attention, namely what seems to be 2 small funnels (BB and STB) as well as small structures sporting the 4 antennas and the mounts for the 2x water canons!
Please check the following link with a superb photo of the details on the hangar roof I just mentioned:
http://www.meretmarine.com/objets/27941.jpg

I will also add 4x SRBOC mk36.

Thanks
Regards,
Ayala Botto

Hi,

New photos of my recent work at my workbench: the RNoN Fridtjof Nansen F310 Frigate resin model, produced by Dodo Models at 1/700 scale.

The photos already shows some of the improvements I've been working over the original model.

Hi,

I probably shall finished my model before the upgrade set produced by Dodo Models is available.
But that's not a problem, because all parts (PE and Resin) included in this set can perfectly be applied after the model is complete without any major problem.

According with Dodo Models the upgrade set includes resin SSM Canisters in resin as well as the following PE parts:

S-band navigation radar;
MK81 AN/SPG-62;
AN/SPY-1F;
Browning M2;
helicopter blades;
cradle of liferafts;
whip antenna;
missile launcher;
MK 36 SRBOC chaff;
safety net;
railing;
cradle for RHIB.

I'll remove the 8x VLS cells and install a 16x VLS cells as installed in the latest ship of this class.
I think all other ships will have the 8x VLS cells replaced by yhe 16x VLS cells.

As for the 16x VLS Cells I'll use a modified the PE part number 3 of the Hobby-Boss USS Lassen DDG-82 (see link bellow with the review) fwd VLS.
It's a 32x VLS cells (in PE) and it wont be difficult to cut it by half and install it on the Fritdjof Nansem model.
