Graf Spee 1:350 Academy with Eduard

Post by biegacz90 »

Hi I'm new user and beginer modelmaker. I came from Poland so my english could be "not understand" sometimes

In "Scratchbuilding questions and answers" I asked about the paint color to my model and one man asked me if I show a couple photo from building process. So I want to show you a couple photo and I want to make my topic with scratch building but it will be very short because many elements are in progres.

I chose this paint scheme I found it in German Naval Camouflage

Image

I prefer tamiya so I'm using the XF1, XF 20, XF24, XF 26, XF 53 and XF 78. Also I used Pactra A33, A26, A28 and vallejo dark red and flat red.

And I'm using the Eduard PE (53050). The wire I will make from very thicknes line (0,03 milimeters or 0,12 milimeters) And it is the second model painting with airbrush

Image

It is old photo because I painted the lower hull in red. I mixed vallejo dark red with flat red 50% to 50%. Also I painted the black stripe water line.
I can't show you a currently photo because when I'm taking a photo I have a pink hull on a photo :lol_1: I don't know why.

but here you have a example my red color

Image

I made one piece of superstructure

Image

Image

I made an arado. The cabin was made from clear sprue. My friend is making planes and he gave me "junk"

Image

Image

At now I,m building the rest of superstructure

Image

Image

Image

many parts are in progres

Image

Image

Image

That's all for now. Tommorow I must buy the Tamiya CA Glue type, because my old is almost empty. I have to glue railing on the hull before painting the rest of the hull

Welcome to the forum!

Just a note: "scratch building" means building a model without a kit. Because the Academy model is a kit, it belongs here in the Picture Post -> Works in Progress section, rather than Scratchbuilding.

a new couple photos

arado with decals, but only on the wings. I regret not having the liquid for the decals like set and sol. It didn't want to glue, especially these to the side :( But I promise by the next model I will have bought set and sol

three boats

and 105 mm guns

one is different but it is not my fault it's academy fault. Two was in the same sprue and the one (different) was on another sprue. When I was looking the parts in the sprue I didn't see the difference. I saw it when I glued guns

By the next week I will have finished hull. I have to glue railings on the deck, paint deck, many small elements on the deck and railings

Hi,

Good job. But I would glue the rails after placing the turrets and the parts of the superstructure. What happens if you have to modify something? Will you break the rails?

I've never been optimistic enough about the steadiness of my hands and there being no unforeseen difficulties to not wait until the last possible moment to attach the railing.

Coming along quite nicely. You did a good job with the railings, they look good. I usually leave these until the end, so I don't keep knocking them off.

All in all I'd say some very nice looking work. I'd be quite happy for mine to come out looking nearly that good. And, you are building at quite a pace! From what I've seen up to this point, I think you are going to end up with a first rate model when she is completed.

Today I'm going to start doing wires on the couple part like funnel and bridge. I want to do something like that.

Image

I will use very thickness line - 0,03 mm. I used the same when I build cranes

Your work is excellent., Clean and tidy. I think in the overall appearance of the ship, the Arado will look alright.
You are doing a great job, continue on.

thanks, so I'm continue

I'm angry at myself, I used too low pressure when I was painting the bridge so I have to cleaned them  I used again surfacer 1200

Image

and I'm testing new equipment in my workshop, tamiya flexible masking tape

Image

I used it on the top 280 mm guns but only on the edge. In the centre I used traditional yellow tape

Image

In the evening I will start making wires
