It's been a while since my last project and a long time since my last build log so I thought it was time to get moving on this project. I live in the great state of New Jersey, have visited the USS New Jersey 3-4 times, and always come away impressed by its size and complexity. It's difficult to imagine making the ship function, never mind fight. When I'm done - assuming it turns out as hoped - this will go in my office.

I'm more of an "assembler" in the modeler versus assembler debate that kicks up now and again so my plan is to add detail using the Pontos Model set and update the hull as veliko_pile did in his build log. Speaking of build logs, Brett M has a great one going and I've learned a lot following his progress. For the USS New Jersey and Iowa-class experts out there, please chime in, especially if you see me missing something obvious.

So ... the project. My first step was to have a case made. I work in a dusty basement so a case is a must. The base was carved to represent waves and while it's obviously not ultra-realistic I like its artistic flair. You may notice two Pontos Model sets in the photo below. The first set I purchased had the wrong resin parts but I haven't been able to get in touch with Pontos Model or persuade the retailer I purchased it from to take it back. So I bought the second set from a different vendor as I continue chasing them. If I hear back, great. If I don't, I'll use it as back-up or sell it to someone who can use it.

Oooooh, I want a case like that. I've been covering my New Jersey with super thin plastic sheet so it doesn't get dusty, this would be way better.

Can't wait to see how your progress goes, I'll be watching! :thumbs_up_1:
