Got a message from Gregg of Shapeways. A drawing of the America island that he is working on. I told him if he proceed with this I will take the J.F.K hull turn it into America. Looks like I have a heavy duty project coming. Yes I know the flight deck is not the same as Kitty Hawk or J.F.K. When you look at flight deck 3/4 of the J.F.K is America and rest is all Kitty Hawk. I have large plastic sheets already. Anyway the drawing.

Good to hear from you John! Yeah I talk to Gregg about that island and he is all into it. I'll be converting my J.F.K hull into the America. The flight deck will be made from a large plastic sheet. But that is down the road.

Started on the hull. Sanded down some of the details that were on J.F.K. Fill in the port side anchor opening.

Always wanted to do the America circa mid 70's in 1/350. I will be following your build for sure. Looking great so far!

DVD is good. Just wet sand the hull to get rid of the molding that are not on the America. Gregg from Shapeways e-mail to say he is starting over on the America island. He didn't like how it look. Post update this coming weekend.

The chart gets Constellation wrong. It should look pretty near identical to Kitty Hawk, but instead it looks more like JFK  . The other ships seem pretty decent though.

Mardis - Go with Flickr for your photos. Much nicer (I think) :cool_2:
