It's been a while since I caught some time for modelling, and finally I manage to put something up. It's a small project, in this scale less than 4", but nevertheless it will be really fun to scratchbuild all those details. The ribs and the hull were made with 0,5mm styrene sheets, and filled up with miliput putty, then I sanded it down to make the underside smooth, and the bow crisp. The idea is to place it on the small diorama in full speed cutting the sea surface. The base is wooden frame, and the sea is made from transparent resin with few drops of blue and green dye. Here is the progress so far:

Looks great so far! Very neat presentation!

How did you create the waves in the resin?

Cheers,

Marijn

Thank you for the comments, I'm hoping to catch some time again to continue the build...
Surface is made with gloss acrylic medium that I thinned with few drops of water, and after drying, several layers of high gloss varnish.
Through the last 10 years I experimented with many different materials and techniques, and this method I find most satisfying.

Kind regards! :wave_1:

Update no1. It's been a while.... started working on upper parts, the bridge, and the armament. Small window openigs were a real challenge. Torpedo tubes and AK 230 turrets are dry fitted for appearance only. Really looking forward to building mast, and adding small details

Small progress. I've done some work on the hull and the bridge, but the biggest effort was the mast made from stretched sprue...and its not even finished yet, really fiddly stuff :Mad_6:

The main mast broke on two places recently, fortunately I managed to repair it and reinforce it with some CA glue. I added small radar platform on the back side, and next I'm going to finish antenna on top. On the deck I corrected the hatches, and started working on gun emplacements. Also added details near exhaust on both sides. The real deal were 15 or so mushroom shaped ventilation caps made from 2 parts, and 14 bollards from which 12 are 0,3x0,7mm.
