Howdy all, Welcome again to another journey of out of the box just wasn't good enough. I like many I am sure, just couldn't resist myself when Trumpeter released a 1/350 kit of the USS New York BB-34 almost 2 years ago. I picked the kit up and even submitted a in box review
here, from there it sort of had the "Oooh....Shiny" quickly wear off and languished for a few months. I happened to pick up Classic Warships pictorial on the Texas around the same time, in it there were several very nice images of the Texas as the Fleet Flagship with a Birdbath AA gun tub above the foremast. Well, I said if I am going to build a Texas that's the one I want to do. But alas, my goldfish attention span was quickly altered when I discovered Jeff Sharp's 1/700
build, "Ooooh..... Shiny-er!" So with my trusty knives, files and a brand new box of band aids I set out hacking and slicing, got most of the Pilot house rouged out and into the box it went when I moved last year. Since I finished my Enterprise build for now, I am returning to the stash of doom and started kits to try and start bringing some of these projects to light. I wanted something that didn't have a ton of AA but that would challenge my Scratchbuilding abilities and I think this build fits the bill. I didn't take any pictures early on when I first started, but you can see the White styrene and the Grey kit parts and can get an idea of what I started with.

The Texas has to have one of the most unique looking Wind Venturi on the face of her bridge structures at this point in her career. Here we see my interpretation with Styrene shapes begin to shape up
