Master,

the original instructions did not reflect the fact the rangefinders of the turret no. 3 were actually removed and replaced by a couple of the Mk 27 radars. As such, we had to build this from scratch. Moreover, we are starting to equip turrets with guns.

I will keep you updated, my Master.

If you ever decide to do the West Virginia, turret 3 has Mk 27 antennas also.

What did you use for the bases for the Mk. 27's?

Timmy, I don't consider 1/700s small... I rather consider 1/350s huge ;-)

bioshock73> Yes, the Wee Vee is patiently sleeping in a stack :-)
Regarding the Mk 27 mounts - I have actually used the V-shaped forward-oriented part of the redundant turret rangefinders as a base (part N27; sanded it a little bit). The "column" is made of a sanded plastic Oerlikon twin pedestal less the shield (part V3-11). I won't use them anyway.

Master,

the primary armament is in place and the rear fire control tower has been equipped with yardarms and its support braces. A majority of the basic components have been prepared so far, except of the secondary battery, catapult, rear crane and main mast. Concerninng the last one, we are planning to build the mast from the scratch.

Fantastic work. I don't know how you do it in 700. You must have some pretty powerful optivisor lenses and micro tweezers. Ill continue to watch this build.

How are you going to paint this with everything "assembled?"

I have been struggling with painting and assembly order for everything I am working on.

Scott, thank you, but it's actually not that difficult. As I mentioned before: well designed photoetch parts + good bending tool + diluted PVA instead of CA = recipe to success.

Matthew, most of what you can see is actually in a dry fitting stage. Only those parts that are not obscuring access to other ones are glued togethr. I am in no mood of commiting suicide :-)

David, I know. Whatever it is, I am planning to remove it during the further stages.

The superstructure is done except for the port/starboard Mark 37 directors and two Mark 51 directors as they could be an obstacle during the rigging process. Signal ropes are next...

Okay, as the forward halyards are done, most of the secondary battery could be installed as well (except for the sternmost turrets). Onto the aft halyards now...
