Hello everyone.

The first two small finished buildings

I also took pictures of the items that took my head for 2 good months. Namely aging wagons, vehicles, small cranes and all the small elements that make the loads of vehicles and wagons.

In first the railway material. During the previous diorama, I was sorry to see that the cars and loco have a bit of a term in terms of effects. So I took a lot of time to get a result a little more fun.

Image

The locos were designed by Jean (Migou31) who provided me with these boards. A big thank you to Jean.

Now the small cranes that will be used to unload the cars.

The fleet of vehicles. I favor open vehicles with their loads. I think it gives a lot more life to the diorama. As on the cars the realization of the patina took me a lot of time.

All the vehicles come from L'Arsenal (http://www.larsenal.com/PBSCCatalog.asp) And quite a few of them were offered by Mélaine. A big thank you to her.

The small cranes that will be positioned on the side and all along the large building.

Now the stacks of boxes. All crates are in photo cut. On photos made in strong macro, PE edges are visible. But to the naked eye none of this can be seen.

Here. I still have to do the big crane and the big building. I almost reached the end of the quay section. Everything is tidy waiting for the final assembly.

Good day to you all.

Best Regards
Alain.

I have missed your post Alain!
But it is easy to see why it has been a while: that's an enormous amount of work, especially at such a level of finesse.

Fantastic work, and I'm looking very much forward to seeing the rest!

Cheers,

Marijn

Good evening everyone.

Thank you all for your participation and follow-up of this post. It's super nice of you.

Phew, I finally arrived at the end of the painting of the elements constituting the Quai du Diorama.

The big building with small cranes. Initially I had planned 10 cranes. But I will certainly reduce the number of small cranes - 6 or 7.

And the big crane. Complicated to paint. I spent about 10 days doing aging and effects on this crane. I gave up the Streaking and Wash products from Mig or AK. For the crane I used only oil paints and that does it very well.

The crane will not be attached to the diorama. But transported in a dedicated box. With its size and the cantilevers. Vibrations can hurt either element.

Good luck to you all.

Tres impressionante ...

BTW, will any of the etches for the e.g. the dock-cranes become commercially available ?

How do you do your etch design? In 3D, or, simple 2D and paying a lot of attention?

Hello,

Thanks for your comments.

None of the items I draw will be in the trade. I realize them only for my use.

To make the drawings I leave plans or photos. I do 2D drawings using Illustrator software.

On the whole Diorama it must be more than 1000 hours in front of my computer to design all and draw the boards of PE.

Thank you again for your comments.

Best Regards.
Alain.

That's fantastic. The weathering is just enough to be very realistic, without being too much.

Hello,

Below are the photos of the Bismarck with finished basic paintings.

Initially I had to do it in painting (with parts of the ship in antirust color). But aesthetically speaking it was not very beautiful. So I made a back /

I will always put painters but the painted parts will be lighter or darker. This point is still under consideration.

Now I'm going to do detailed paintings like portholes, crane wires, etc.

I have to do the most interesting work. The aging of the ship.

Bismarck looks great too. I'm looking forward to the weathering!

Hello everyone.

It's been a while since I came to the forums. I advanced on the painting of Bismarck.

On the following pictures the upper part of the ship is almost finished. It remains air and some other things to do here and there. But nothing complicated. At the level of the aging of the upper part I will leave it there.

For the rest, I will mainly work on the deck of the ship and the hull. I was waiting to be able to put the railings on the deck before starting the aging of the hull.

I made sprains in the story. Because on the date that Bismarck had this livery, he had none of his shooting directors. The latter having been set up just before departure for his one and last trip.
