Hello All,

this will be my first project on this forum so I am opened to all of Your comments and advices. Keep Your fingers crossed, this is going to be a long term project! :thumbs_up_1:

I have decided to start my adventure with 1/200 scale BIG and this is what I will be working with:

- Trumpeter set in 1/200 scale
- Pontos Detail set Teak tone wooden deck
- Pontos Add-on set
- Eduarda PE set (including hull plates)
- 3x Trumpetera US Navy Naval Figures (180 figures in total)
- Trumpeter US Military Accepted Surrender Ceremony Set Figures

As it is no wonder looking at the above mentioned set I will try to replicate the state of the ship as for a Japan surrender day.

I have already worked out the hull and deck. Here are some photos of how does it look like today:

The more Iowa's the better. I still wonder where you guys keep these 1/200 ships.....they're huge when done!

Looking forward to seeing more progress. Thanks for sharing.

Thank You Brett, I'll do my best! I am lucky to have quite big house and understanding wife

As I am still working on HMS Dreadnought 1/350, progress on Mighty Mo is quiet limited... Nevertheless, something has been done and I've started with Oerlikons. I hope next ones will go faster because if not, next post will be around Christmas

My wife is understanding as well, but she keeps giving me the evil eye when I mention my really big kits.....two 1/350 starship Enterprise models. Those aren't small....or short!

Updates look good though, those guns have some tiny pieces...glad it's you assembling and not me. Roger that on Christmas updates.....about as quick as my New Jersey progress! :)

Hello All,

some time has passed but because my work on HMS Dreadnought there was not much time to spend with Mighty Mo. Oerlikons are being proceeded but slowly. However, I have started my work on base of main mast, MS-2 radar and MK-38 director.

I have started with drilling spots for steps with use of Pontos setter (good idea). My advice is not to drill holes to the end as 0,3mm drills like to snap and small holes are sufficient to set steps.

Thank You kindly Brett!

More progress You say? :cool_2: I have started to install hull plates from Edaurd PE set. There are 23 sets per burt. It is easy but quiet long process. Eduard has included a pattern to set parts to the hull. Instructions advice to glue parts by setting them on pattern. However, I have decided just to mark places in order to avoid gluing them together.

Luckily before the start of painting the hull I have noticed a mistake I have done. I have drilled the vertical holes near the hull where should be decals with immerse level. Repairing team has acted and now everything is OK :thumbs_up_1:

I have also a question to USS Missouri builders. What are those parts below? They come from the Pontos set and I can not figure out what are they. As it is no surprise with Pontos sets instruction does not say anything...

That's the breakwater on the main deck - part R07, and it's labelled in the overhead diagram on the first page. The photo of the resin parts and their numbers are at the bottom of the same diagram.

Thanks a lot Timmy! It is sometimes really hard to understand what is what on Pontos instructions...

It is huge! Try to paint this hull with regular airbrush... Luckily I have Creos 0,5 for those purposes. Hull plates are in the separate set (Eduard No. 53126 which is part 10 in USS Missouri PE set). As I have both sets from Pontos there was no need for buying whole set from Eduard which is not as detailed.

Going forward I have finished this part of Superstructure. I will only put additional light weathering tomorrow and that will be all for this moment. I have to go back to finishing my HMS Dreadnought 1/350 scale which is in 90% done (last picture in this post)...

I love how detailed you can get with PE in 1/200. You've done some great work and the superstructure looks awesome!

If you want.....I changed the exposure and white balance on two images. Just was too yellow for me.....and I wanted to see it as you do!

I can delete these if you want, just let me know.

Thank You Brett and please don't delete files You have prepared. It only reminded me that there is an easy way of enhancing images. If the main reason of leading the thread is to share with You Guys my workshop I could work a little bit more on editing photos for more precise look...

It looks like I will finish HMS Dreadnought this weekend so next week I will come back to Mighty Mo!

As I like to work on two models at the same time I am thinking now what to do next... Options are:
1. HMS Hood 1/200 with Pontos
2. DKM U-Boat 1/48 from Trumpeter with Eduard PE
3. HMS Victory 1/96 from Shipyard (model in wood)

Any sugestions?
