Hey!

I've been taking break and looking for some inspiration, and sure enough when I saw the new Veteran models 1/200 russian navy accessories it came looking for me!

These two are just AMAZING in detail and a MUST buy for anyone building the 1/200 sovremenny class. Ofcourse I'm not doing the whole build again, just upgrading my existing model with these bad boys!

I couldn't hold my horses so I had to finish 1st turret straight away!

Here's how it looks. The only thing I added was some base texture with Surfacer 500 with a brush to the bottom of the turret.

And dem guns!

So this will be a mini build of the turrets and the radar and then some pictures how they look on the sovremenny!

Damn I'm excited about these things!

Had some ups and downs while trying to acquire them but finally BNA model world came through with excellent delivery!
Cheers for them!

Here's the radar!

There's about 3 different bases for it so choose the right one according to reference!

And all the handles and shizzles.

Ok need to get these done goddamnit !

So, basic stuff first!

Primed with vallejos primer, make sure to get light coats!
Black preshade around details.
Next step filling with the main color.
And lighter for highlights.

After drying I started with a dark blue filter. After that some more specific filters with light grey.
A light pin wash with black. Satin vallejo finish. And finalized with carefull drybrushing with light grey.

For the metals I started with alclad duralium. After that I masked 3 thin strips with masking tape and over sprayed alclad pale burnt metal.
After that some dirt/oil/grease streaks with brown oils. And some grease/oil stains with the same color to top it off!

I have this monster in my 'to build' pile. A very elegant design. I recently took it out of its box and took stock. I am thinking I may have to spring for the replacement units...the kit turrets and radars are anemic efforts.

Anyway, have you thought about putting together one of new releases of Chinese 1/200 ships? They have a 052C and a 054 in the pipeline:

I haven't seen or heard anything of these new 1/200 chinese dds. I'm fairly certain they are just rehashes of the old trumpeter and bronco, and the quality is terrible by todays standards if being honest.

So I think I'll pass for now got some new stuff coming up!

Only the two 956-EM kits are rehashes. The other two, the 052C and the 054 are all new tool. And if their 051C kit is any indication, they should be pretty nice.

No matter, I look forward to your next project with great anticipation!

The Perry class turned out most lovely!
