I finished with the secondary weapons, those little fellows are really good looking and price/quality very good choice. Attachment: Now the turn for the main guns Decided to use Micro Master printed turrets and Master Models 36 cm Kongo guns, just erased the rings on the brass barrels near the blast bags. The other choices were B&D barrels, printed and stock, must say I am pretty disappointed with B&D barrels , they are the most expensive of all and quality wise are behind the Master model pieces, printed pieces are fairly good but still behind brass even after the B&D,stock are just a joke. the turrets ,stock are not really bad ,but again quality wise are miles behind the printed turrets from Micro Master

Hello fellow modelers, again bringing a short update on building this Iron Shipwrights HMS Orion. Found I think the last flaw on the model and to recall them 1) Aft superstructure in wrong place(should be backwards 6mm or 1/4 inch 2) Very asymmetric starboard side of the hull, need a good quantity of filler/styrene to solve the problem 3) Armour belt is not symmetrical near the bow ,need to be redone in the last third Now I found the last , and in this one I do applied the rule # 2 in my policy ,because it was to much problem cutting a big piece of resin and repairing it, so I will only increase the width of the funnel location on starboard by .020" with plastic strip and hopefully will be covered by the funnel itself Attachment: Don't worry on the mast ,is only dry fitted This big resin ships are full of little casting problems |

Now more on the model .I am working on the few pieces the model has, actually on the bridge and the funnels. On the bridge basically I kept everything stock and only add some finesse details, still not finished but planning to use North Star Models RN bridge accessories(fantastic stuff BTW) Attachment: Attachment: Funnels was a lot of fun excessive detail on the strakes and I decided to erase almost all detail and make new one with primer and masking, IMO believe it tamed down the funnel and looks more in scale Attachment: Attachment: Starting with the photo etch Is a generic set for use in different ships from ISW , I believe is for the HMS Canada,HMS Orion,HMS Agincourt and HMS Bellerophon To say somethin ,is very basic and the parts are not etch relief at all and are veryyyyyy thin. I got troubles to fit them on the funnel grills , they are very small, now I did my own grills

Stalled this project, but now I am getting again on it ,not an excuse but when you stop this kind of peculiar kits ,is a bit hard to be on mood to continue, well now I will start in the full paint job and the deck will be very challenging since lost a lot of detail when I cut the aft superstructure , now will try to do some restoration,so next pictures is some initial painting and dry fit some parts, the printed turrets are IMHO very nice, and finished also with the anti torpedo booms, quite demanding this parts because the positions on the ship were not correct,so needed to set a corrected position , and because I don't have the beautiful booms from Pontos ,I had to figure some scrap photoetch to set part of the boom hardware, I used 1/700 boat cradles shaved and tuned and 1/700 Modern weapons Harpoon parts (also worked) from Flyhawk

Gentlemen thank you very much for your kind comments . Now after a painting session ,she is starting to look more like a BBssB, still lots of works ahead, next will be the black boot and as previously said the wood deck, from there uphill to assemble all the missing parts ,believe me there are lots of aftermarket stuff to add to this models.
