Nice stuff, did your wooden deck detach itself around the edges after a few months?

Thanks :thumbs_up_1:

Yes, it has to be super glued down at places. Like to use thin glue on the end of a razor blade.

Tried to convince myself the guns looked fine, but ended up reworking them. They were just too long.

Had move the barrels where the gun would be in the shield. Made the canvas covers from mixing white glue and paint as the Hasegawa piece could not be used. They still need some touching up.

Thanks guys :thumbs_up_1: Haven't done much except mount the guns with corrected barrel length... hoping to get fired up on it again.

Recently moved so I've been repairing some travel damage. Did the bridge ladders up from the boat deck and up to bridge. Redid each side once due to build errors....

Thanks Dan.

Front mast - only modification done was drilling out the crows nest and support beam.

Image20181009_141403

First three out of the 18 cranes. Hope these are right, didn't really match the instructions picture, but went by bends and attachment points as indicated.

Both mounted to the ship. Probably won't set cranes hooks till rigging them.

Cranes were build in properly... Was missing the very first page of instructions. I am glad this site includes instructions in their reviews or I would have been lost.

Looks good. I apologize for not answering a bit earlier; the booms can be posed any number of ways: up, down, at an angle, or a mix among them. It was situational.

Thanks Dan, those are some great pictures - going to make some changes. :thumbs_up_1:

Rear of the bridge with most of the PE on. I am guessing the frame work around the pilot house is the for canvas covers.

Better view of the hatch 3 deck cranes.

Some of the railing and ladders in place.

Image20181025_204953
Most of the boat deck and top deck railed. Still needs some clean up and straightening.

Normally the booms would be horizontal when at sea, preferably supported at its outboard end in a crutch on deck or superstructure or anywhere handy really, with no load on the lifts. You wouldn't want a boom lift to part and have the boom come crashing down in bad weather! When approaching or leaving port they could be any which way of course, if they were going to be/had been used, until tidied up again.

Were the blocks and tackle (crane hooks) removed and stored? Also, on deck or pole cranes, did they rotate or did they just rig the side they needed? Thanks.
