Hello everyone,

after a long time not posting here, I would like to share my new project, the HMS Hermes in 1/700. I will use the Flyhawk kit and try to build it as it was in 1942, some time before her sinking. The Flyhawk kit is really something else, but there are still some things that can be improved.

The portholes in the bow are molded as ovals, because of the shape of the hull. These portholes were circular, so I filled them up to be redrilled or replaced with PE portholes.

Some of the bulkeads and parts were a bit too thick and they do not look very good at that scale. I am removing some material to make them thinner.

As always, I really like to build full-hull models, so the lower hull provided by the kit is used. The seam line was worked on and the whole hull primed.

I decided to use PE portholes. I counted them and there are 318 of them. It was a very relaxing exercise.

I am still removing and realigning some of them. After I am done with the portholes, more planning is needed, as there are many parts that would be nice to have painted before adding them to the ship.

As always, comments and criticism very welcomed. :wave_1:

I'm actually building the Aoshima Hermes kit, though I probably will do it out-of-the-box.
