I was out of town this weekend, so I didn't get a lot done. I've added some PE to the forward tripod and painted it black (using the finest setting on my airbrush for most of the work, per recommendation from "speedbird" - worked well!) I also did some touch up to the hull, which netted a few areas that were strangely lighter. Given that the hull will be heavily weathered, per German capital ships in 1918, I'm not concerned.

Remaining before Future and weathering: I want to finish the forward tripod and mainmast. Railing, cranes, launches, winches, crew, and lord knows what else will be added when convenient.

Tripod is essentially complete, minus some small bits. I also built the bare bones of the main mast (dryfit). Due to free time being "LOLNope" due to work, I'm moving at a snail's pace.

That whole tripod came out good, I'm digging this one. Sharp looking ship!

Thank ya.

Gloss is on the hull and the ship is insanely shiny! I'm excited to start my favorite part of the build: washing and weathering. I've also decided on a name: SMS Von Steuben. Really appreciate the suggestion, maxim!

Also done:

- I decided to scratch build a searchlight platform for the after superstructure... because.

- Added Starling Models' wonderful coal scuttles.

- Touched up paint and checked for any brass showing.

- Added railing to the after superstructure and "tarped" it.

I'm going out of town for the week (business), and will likely sit down to do the cranes, boats, and other little details when I get back. I'll intermittedly work on the water base and destroyer as I get time.

Pictures. So shiny!

Slow as ever...

These pictures were taken from the beginning of the weekend and don't reflect rails and other small bits I added yesterday. This thing edges to completion. I'm also starting to work the water base.

Soooo while looking for images of "SMS Scharnhorst", I stumbled on this old build of mine. "Scharnhorst" was an option for her name until I found out she was a Mackensen-class vessel.

Anyway. It's done, but I don't have really good photos. Here's one on the porch. I'll add more later.

That looks great. Send some photos for submission to the gallery, so everyone can enjoy them.
