Thanks for the discussion!

I have mixed some paint to fit to the standard as follows:

All vertical surfaces—AP 507B Admiralty Medium Grey (RN 02);
Steel decks—AP 507A Admiralty Dark Grey (RN 01);
Wood decks—Teak (C 01);
Boot-topping—Black (C 02);
Underwater Hull—RN Antifouling Red (RN 19).

I had to lighten those collors due to the 1/700 scale and that how it looks like. This is just primary loose dryfit:

What did you make the UP Launchers out of?
You probably should not have the 4 gun tubs on the forward superstructure platform... Please double check that point.

Cant see the lower hull paints you talk about, is it coming later?

Mast work looks good. Was it hard to make?

There are 2 UP launchers in the front tower not 4 and I made them from the old, spare sprue parts and spare photo-etched parts.

Hull will be painted later, You are right.

Masts were very hard to finish but if You work with PE parts, You will handle it easily.

Lighter looks better to me as well. Nice work on the whole project!

I believe it needs to go much darker.

"507A" and "507B" being dark and medium grey was already a big misunderstanding and they were both the same colour - Home Fleet Grey. This was a dark grey of 10% Light Reflectance Value. Black paint is usually about 3% and white paint around 75 to 80%. The old RN02 was 20% so if you have lightened it twice it will be (and looks to be) about 30% LRV - effectively your model is painted in a colour roughly similar to B6.

Home Fleet Grey was a dark grey. The overall impression of the ship should be dark.

RN02 has been discontinued by us because it was wrong - unlightened it was already TWICE as bright as Home Fleet Grey so lightening it again makes it closer to 507C's true appearance than to any formulation of Home Fleet Grey.

Image

The Snyder and Short 507B above is what the discontinued RN02 matched. It is much, much lighter than the very lightest Home Fleet Grey ever was.

The expanded name of Home Fleet Grey given to both Admiralty Pattern 507A and Admiralty Pattern 507B in the Rate Book of Naval Stores was "Dark Grey, Home Fleet Shade". Sometimes each was referred to simply as "Dark Grey"

The correct colour only seems too dark because as modellers we are conditioned to seeing incorrect models painted with flawed paints for many years now. The ships were all dark grey though.

Hope this helps :thumbs_up_1:

That deck is called No 1 platform; there were supports there for the 3pdr saluting guns. The 20mm guns and their tubs were installed later.

from plans in 5/41 kit. you can see the important areas for the conversion. Im honestly considering to just buy the new kit and not bother converting as the hull I had was somewhat warped. But may be it is an easy fix. I have UP launchers from Hood actually in PE form so that part is easy.

pascalemod, now I get what You mean...

Unfortunately I think I went too far. Now I am afraid that byremoving those stands might destroy the entire structure...

You have your aft quad 14" turret sitting in the forward position and vice versa.
The turret with the two UP launchers is C turret not A turret.
Also why do you have it sitting so high above the deck?

Yes, that is a mistake. Luckly it is just the dryfit :)
The hole for the turret was tight, that is way it so high - I have corrected it.

Pascalemod, I will make some photos as soon, as I finish those changes. I have decided to correct those gun stands on No.1 platform. I just can't leave this mistake like this...

Now, I have a break, as I am waiting for the wooden deck which is flying to me for over a month...

Haha, birds of a feather. I have the same problem, after I find a mistake, no matter how late, I usually correct it. :D

Yeah please correct for these UP directors as Im about to restart on PoW in a month also. Im doing full hull.
