Nice :thumbs_up_1:
Very clean build with some nice extras. May be you could use some putty to make the upper decks on the bridge smoother, or as I often do when decks are supposed to be planked: Use some left over parts/wooden decks from other projects. I bought a clean sheet of wooden deck for this purpose, and you may like to put on a filter of say 5% darker brown to 95% alcohol or white spirit to make the deck look a bit more worn.
Ref.: http://www.modelshipgallery.com/gallery ... /index.htm

I built this model myself around 1980 (!) and rebuilt it 6-7 years ago. Still original, but I added some better-looking boats, rigging, rails, AA etc to it. I have not presented it to this forum yet, but here it is- sitting on the shelf!

The last picture shows the model in 1980

Stretched sprue - easy! Yes - it is! :jump_1:
Light up a candle, cut of ca 5 cm of common sprue found in every model set (also called trees).
Now, hold the sprue by index finger and thumb in both hands and rotate it above the flame until it is starting to melt.
Now, draw the sprue apart in a controlled and even motion. The longer you draw (1-2 meters), the thinner the thread.
It is actually more difficult to priduce thicker items

2-3 times should be enough to give you the idea. And there you go!

Thin line for flagline, thicker for standing rig etc.
Fasten by superglue. VERY tine portion og glue. Just wet the spot where you want to fix the line. Let dry. secure with a tine drop of glue. Tips: Use tretched spru for positioning the glue!

Stretched sprue will easilly burst, but it burst without breaking the masts when you happen to hit it with you hand ... (and who doesen't! :cool_2: ).

hm, well... I have been looking at my Scheer, and yes, the two 37mm forward are WEMs (not very good PE by todays standard- very 2D).
The two 37 mm at the rear of the ship are different, and as I seem to remember, were built from Trumpeter 37mm items from an old 1:400 resin type 1934A destroyer from Iron Shipworks - but I'm not sure. This IS-kit was used as baseline for two of my models, but having said that - the hull is reasonably good, the rest is trash and needs to be scratch-built! I think those two 37mm C/30s were what I had at hand when I rebuilt my Scheer.
1:400 is not very common today, so I don't know what will be the best choice for you today. I use items from Veteran Models for my 1:350 models, but they are a bit too big for your 1:400...

If you wonder what is the object in your circle no 2,- it is a Cable Reel for storing cables/hoses etc. from a WEM Kriegsmarine Cable Reel set.

What about this one: (1:48) below?

File comment: Can you spot the error: The producer has mixed up right and left side of the positions for the height/side followers....

that gun is great looking....a bit hard to place on my ship though....I think....LMAO

yeah...less and less 1/400 on the market...although...I find it a very good scale size...
big enough to get highly detailed and still visually easy to see without microscope...very hard on 1/700
15% smaller than 1/350...needs less space so more can be made /had....and placed

AND...can be combined with an existing aviation scale..1/400
