So after several years of going back and forth wether I should scratch build this ship or not and also waiting to see if any one came out with a large 1/350 scale version I got tired of waiting.

I’d did what research I could and reviewed some of the forums here on the matter and finally I’ve started.

I do have to admit I’m a little nervous as this is my first scratch build hull.

File comment: These are the two books I found on the ship the top one is in Russian (can’t read it) it has mostly got photographs of the ship, the second is all mostly scale drawings.

File comment: Working off the enlargement of the schematic I found online I have started the hull, there seemed to be some conflicting information out there about the shape of the hull below the water line, most drawings show an odd flat bottom but in the second book I got there is a line drawing of a more realistic rounded hull so I trying to blend the two. I hope the bulkhead spacing is universal.
Guess we will see

File comment: So finished the first step last night, have to let it all dry and then start the fun part.

Awesome!

I am very proud of you for what it is worth for taking a crack at scratchbuilding.

I am very curious to see how yours turns out.

I have project of my own I am thinking about starting, so seeing this is very encouraging/inspiring.

Thank you!
Was originally just going to scratch build all the radar too but I’ll guess I’ll take a look what’s out there.

Hey Mon$ter, I still have the documentation on these radars when I did my Kronstadt 15 years ago in '700 . The GROM (Head Lights) were actually started with a Kombrig Moskva in mind but that kit was problematic to say the least. Hence my switch to a smaller and more accurate kit. pm me an emailadress if you're interested in the documentation.

So the bulky superstructure parts are done, now for the detailing.
There are a few inacuaracies but at this point I’m just going to run with it and see how she comes out and maybe in the future I’ll build a better one.

Very nice work, and very brave! :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

A wonderfully weird ship design. I would guess a kit at this scale would do well?

Great project, I have the same documentation and was about to start, so I’ll follow closely.
