Those blast bags turned out really well! The hull, too, of course.

This morning I was wondering if I should not do my 1/400 Kagnam Missouri at same time as this Iowa... as I'm doing them both as they where at Tokyo bay...
same painting scheme... I'm fully in the analysis of the differences between them...etc
so I just cleaned up, glued a few necessary stuff... and after about 4 Hours...

your inboard prop shafts should be in the middle of the skegs not mounted on the outside & your outboard props appear to be to far out as should be closer to the skegs. did you look at the plans I linked for you as the "Hold" drawing shows the prop\shafts location?

these are what are in the links I was posting about, not my builds.

BB-62 – USS New Jersey – Booklet of General Plans, 1984, Iowa Class https://www.hnsa.org/wp-content/uploads ... 8/bb62.pdf
BB-63 - USS Missouri - Booklet of General Plans, 1950, Iowa Class https://maritime.org/doc/plans/bb63.pdf
BB-64 – USS Wisconsin – Booklet of General Plans, 1956, Iowa Class https://www.hnsa.org/wp-content/uploads ... 8/bb64.pdf
look at the Missouri plans pdf for pg 13 which is the hold drawing showing the locations of the props\shafts. it will show you what you are currently doing is wrong. pg 17 will also show the position of the inboard prop shafts located in the skeg not mounted on outside of those skegs like you have done. even your big model shows them in the right location.
I am trying to help you build that model better not worse like you are doing on your own. look at this link

Triumph68. Thanks for keeping up with the photos and posting of your progress. I am enjoying your work. This is a great project. I bet we all have a Revell 1/535 Iowa class BB in the stash somewhere.

David, Thank you for the those links. The general plans are indispensable. ( Prop shafts: pages 13 and 17, enlarged to 150%, are excellent for prop shaft placement. )

Nino.

Lovely job on the main gun turrets Triumph68. The blast bags and recoil bands look really good. Looking forward to further updates.

I think it is floater nets not life jackets that sit in there due to location.

As I wasn't happy with the seam between deck and hull( there shouldn't be one)...and some of the bottom seams gave holes I didn't see when unpainted so I redid some stuff, repainted red, black and next will be blue ... also had forgotten the little pipes or what ever they are on the rear of the 40 mm protection wall
made some new 40 mm protection walls with the side of a Railing PE, did some more on the seaplanes... etc.... lots of small stuff on this ship

as I wasn't really happy with the protection wall for AA on turret 2... cut the square corners and replaced it with curves... needs fine tuning but will be better

on turret 3 I thought I'd try something to make it look more real... the Cu wire is 0.3mm

You may want to try Plastruct 0.3mm styrene; I find it easier to glue and easier to bend into shape while gluing (if applying to styrene, that is)
