I am starting the construction of the Prinz Eugen, Tamiya 1/700. A big obstacle is the fact that he wants to do it with a camouflage for the Cerberus 1942 operation. There are really few such models on the Internet, so I can not see where I have a very good look. But I hope I can manage it somehow. Keep fingers crossed!

I know, David, I know these pages, thanks  . I've probably read everything from the internet on this topic. However, I am looking for photos of how camouflage looks from the stern and from the bow of the ship. Maybe someone has such photos?

The German naval camouflages book has this info, Ill check out for you tonight. The thing is if they dont have it - chance are you are out of luck and have to improvise. Hence perhaps, the lack of models with this camo as many give up.

I confirm the above pic posted - it is the only one they got in the book .So you have to assume it is a mirror one on the other side...

At the end of the day, CErberus ship carried a Baltic Camouflage that was peaking through many applications of darker greys. So you should get that right, and the rest is details. ANd Baltic camouflage was mirrored on the other side. So your only concern is deck (where they moved the flag markings around and old ones are still traceable (pinkish grey) and the splotches and such are all super random to try to copy them...

I have mistaken the period of Cerberus' operation and hence the whole misunderstanding.
To sum up this topic, I want to make a camouflage in April 1942, i.e. http://www.kbismarck.com/prinz.gif (middle figure). I'm sorry once again for being misleading :heh:

This is a photo of Tamiya's instructions with the camouflage I want to do. The inscription in this photo states that it is camouflage from the Cerberus surgery. From your statements, it seems that in this operation, in February 1942, Camouflage was completely different ... Guys, should I mean by that that Tamiya made a mistake? Can you explain it to the layman, because I'm starting to get lost in it ...

This is from my library.... Let me know if this helps, I can share with you directly some higher res image for the model building purposes.

It is February but matches yours. Channel dash camo is the one attached. The one before it is also attached so you can put things into context. So above link is correct.

Note the way they moved the aerial recognition markings and old ones are still there. I admit, this is a cool combo to try to paint!

And after this, it was torpedoed, the stern chopped off, and it had a dark bow and stern paint and regular elsewhere. After that it was much more muted grey color going forward.. Till it became USS Prinz Eugen.

I have trouble with English, so please write unequivocally: kamo what I want to do is correct, but it is not from Cerberus time ... YES?
Greetings

Cerberus - top camo. See attachment - it says even on Picture which is Cerberus...

After Cerberus - bottom camo (and Also Tamiya - which is wrong, it is not Cerberus).

Yes, I dont understand what camo you wanna do. Stripes or all dark grey? Dark grey - cerberus, stripes - After cerberus.

The shipyard works at low speed, but it works ... and it produces something.
I now have to fold without glue to see how it fits and draw a kamo

I came to the conclusion that the upper part of the kamo I will do in the instructions, i.e. as in the post Mar27,2019 2:17. Tamiya showed kamo also from the top , so it's easy. The instruction assumes the color of XF-65 Field Gray superstructures. I think it will not be bad if I do it as XF-24 Dark gray, just like on the ship's sides

I think that it is enough to camouflage, because the whole model will become too dark. (I can always correct ... )
Now the railings and rigging

Leave, or add dark spots? I will be grateful for suggestions ...
