NNT has a kit of their half sisters of the Bremen class available. Maybe he used that kit as a starting point for a conversion.

This is a kit by a Greek company which is now unfortunately out of business.
It produced some very interesting modern Greek Navy subjects in 1/700 such as this Kortenaer kit, a kit with 2 type 209 subs and a kit with 2 GUPPYs.
They were also planning a kit of 3 FACs La Combattante II/III/IIIa and a Meko unfortunately they went out of business.
Here are some more photos of the Kortenaer with the 2 subs, a Type 209/1100 (the first sub of this type ordered by any country) and a Type 209/1200.

Thank you scratchshipnut.
Having seen your scratchbuilt ships I can say that superdetailing will not be a big challenge for you.
I wish I could dare to start scratchbuilding the way you do. But my scratchbuilding skills aren t that good I m afraid.
See some more photos of CVN-72 below.

GREAT JOB once more modifying this ship from standard CFA to the German version.
Your Lutjens looks so good John that makes me regret i retired my CFA class ships ( I had all 23 of them).
They spent the last few years of their life in the mothball fleet and were used for "tests" (color).
I considered rebuilding them but i had no time to do this to both CFA and Oliver Hazard Perry class.
The obvious choice was OHP class so CFA class was stricken.

Some CVN-72 close up photos showing details of the airwing.
This is part one of the closeup photos. Part two will be posted along with some small tips for the Trumpeter Nimitz class kit construction.
Of course these tips can be used to improve any carrier, any scale, era or company.

Last of the CVN-72 photos and some small tips for the Trumpy Nimitz class carriers:

1) In order to give a feeling of motion on the flight deck i prefer not to attach the aircraft on the flight deck.
You may do that at least to some of your aircraft and re-arrange them from time to time so that your carrier will not look the same.
If you do not attach any of the aircraft you may even show your carrier in different phases of air operations ( launching, recovery etc.).
2) Do the same for JBDs and cut a piece of plastic sheet for each one of them then paint it and use it for the "lowered" position.
Use the kits JBDs for the raised position. This way you may have any of the 4 JBDs in any position.
3) Use as many vehicles as possible on the flightdeck and 1/700 figures.
Place the figures in places of the flightdeck which are not used as aircraft parking areas so they do not interfere when you reposition your aircraft.
Havent done this yet to all my carriers but i ll do this in the near future.
4) Helicopter landing spots. They are white dots numbered 1 to 6 on every carrier except Midway that had 5 of them.
You can find the dots in a 1/700 Revell Wasp class kit and numbers in any JMSDF kit.
That s all my small tips. Nothing very difficult or sophisticated.
Just some ideas that can be applied and make any postwar carrier look a little better.

Thank you gtb -red.

Some photos of one of my 4 BBBGs.
Each one consists of an Iowa class Battleship, a Ticonderoga class CG, an Arleigh Burke class DDG, a Spruance class DD,
two Perry class FFGs and 2 Los Angeles class SSNs.
The concentration of power is second only to the one of CVBGs.

Nice wish dio gtb.And really nice work on your Nimitz :thumbs_up_1: .
But is there a 1/350 LHD kit like the Revell one in 1/700 ?(see photos below)
Even the 2 carriers have to be modified.
CVN-74 has a unique mast configuration so if you want to make her you ll have to look carefully at the island configuration.

Image
Its clear that the island has been modified sharing some common features of CVN-68 and CVN-69.

A closer view of the island.

gtb it would be great to see more modern stuff in 1/350.
Who knows in 5 years we might see things that we cannot imagine produced in 1/350.
Seven or eight years ago there were no replenishment ships in 1/700 and the only landing ships available were the DML LHAs. Even for carriers the only choice was the old Italeri kits.
Now you can get the wonderful Jag kits and there are several more to come from them ( I hope to see a JFK from them soon) as well as the new company Ships & Co.
You can also build Modern Soviet/Russian and a variety of JMSDF and European ships.
I wish these will be released in 1/350 too so that you 1/350 guys can have what you wish for.

Great photos John.
I like the Israeli FACs very much because they are very heavily armed for their size.
Thanks for posting them.
