I like building postwar USN, Soviet/Russian, JMSDF, RN and other nations warships. I find that especially USN carriers are very impressive so I decided to post a photo of each of my USN aircraft carriers. I'll post more photos for every carrier in my fleet in the future. Of course I ll post photos of other types of warships too.

You should better accelerate because I 'm about to finish CVN-75 and next will be either RN Invincible class or Kuznetsov.By the time I 'll finish Kuznetsov and the 3 RN CVS I hope there will be a resin CV-67 or I 'll have to scratchbuild it like you do.

Hey Nektarios, you have done a Superior job on your carrier fleet!! This is a project that I want to do, but since I got married and have a little girl, who will be three (3) the 9th, kinda hard to do this project that was to last six (6) years. Now this project could last ten (10) years. WWWAAAAAHHHH!!!

Thank you for your comments Mario. It will not take you 10 years to build your fleet of supercarriers . It appears to you as a huge project but once you start it you ll see that it is easier than you thought it would be . You could finish this project in 2 -3 years . Trust me when you ll start you will understand this . If you want to ask me anything feel free to do so.

I was just wondering how did you make the shield for the radar guideness on the island upper port side by hand or took it from another kit. My 1/350 shield on the nimitz is wrong so is the island, and if you scracthbuild it how did you do it. :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: :cool_1: here's pics of my nimitz http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p226 ... 0032-1.jpg

Superb work on your Nimitz . I used this radar director shield from the Italeri CVN-76 kit . I 'm lucky to build in 1/700 because there is almost everything I could dream of in carriers . Unfortunately for you a kit of a modernised Nimitz doesn t exist in 1/350 as far as I know so I guess you ll have to scratchbuild it . But judging from the photos of your carrier I dont think that this will be very hard for you .

hi

excellent work, that is a very impressive fleet indeed. I especially like the CV-63, -64 and, -66 becasue that class is my favorite US carrier. I dont build many carriers myself, not becasue I don't like the ships, I think many of them are very impressive looking, but becasue I never have the patience to do all those hundreds of aircraft. I have a completed Nimitz lying around with no planes, and a CVN-76 in the stash.

Can I just ask, what kits are you using? Also, for the USS Enterprise, which kit is that? I only recall the Revell one and that is not the modern version, I would be curious to know about it in case I ever want to make one myself.

Hi Vlad,
all carrier kits are Italeri except from CV-41 which is an Arii kit and of course the Enterprise which is the Revell kit combined with the island and several parts from the Arii 1/800 kit plus some other parts from the spares box . Of course all the carriers have been extensively upgraded with custom made radomes, antennas and all kinds of electronics found on modern carriers . If you start building CVN-65 I ll be glad to give you any assistance you may need.In case you haven t seen it here is a link to another post of mine with more photos and information on Enterprise.

Post subject:  CV-63 PHOTOS.

This is my build of Italeri CV-63.The ship is currently homeported in Yokosuka Japan and it is the U.S. Navy's only forward deployed aircraft carrier. In 1998 it replaced CV-62 as the forward deployed U.S. carrier in Yokosuka and will retire in 2008.

CV-63 beeing escorted by CG-62, CG-63, DDG-63, DDG-82, DD-975, DD-985 and 2 Los Angeles class SSNs.

CV-63 photographed back in 2002 stiil having F-14s.
Image
The Italeri kit represents the ship in its early 80's appearence so I had to modernise it. The toughest part was modernising the island which took most of my "modernising" effort.
Image
Around 50 extra parts such as radomes, electronics, antennas etc. had to be added to the Island alone.
Image
Another 50 had to be added to the rest of the ship bringing the total to 100 extra parts used.
Image
CV-63 with F/A-18E/Fs. Its escort is DDG-89. I added a Chinook helicopter as a visiting aircraft.
Image
What really saved the day in a moderate model such as this was the very good Pitroad aircraft and their decals plus the Jag decal sheet. This helped me create a decent representation of the ship.
Image
I created this model before the Fujimi CV-63 was released. If you have to choose the Fujimi kit is the better kit. It still needs a lot of work but it is a much better starting point than the Italeri one.

I hope you like the photos of my CV-63 build. Your comments positive or negative are very wellcome.

These are some photos of my CVW-3 ready to go on CVN-75. This is the second time I use SF decals and I have to admit that this time it was much easier to use them. The details of the decals are so good that I wonder how Mark can do it in 1/700. I m waiting for the GMM 1/700 Nimitz class carrier PE set to finish my CVN-75. When the carrier will be finished I ll post photos with the airwing onboard.
