I know. It will be sanded down. Merit/Trumpeter used the Kitty Hawk kit hull, I have to add the dome.

There is a dome. It's just faired into the bow fairly well. It was the whole reason for moving the port anchor to the bow. Compare Kitty Hawk to JFK.

that explains why that part of the bow looked a bit weird. when I get around to doing my JFK, i'll build up that area with sheet plastic using the bread & butter method then carve & sand to shape.

Once the dome is right, I'll fair it in. Here is a comparison of the differences between the Kitty Hawk and JFK kit hulls. They just use a different plug for the mold on the front of the bow, the JFK hull is even stamped Kitty Hawk inside. You can see a bit of the mold line on the Kitty Hawk bow, right where the bow anchor recess is on JFK.

maccrage, you need to bulk it up almost to the waterline as per your 1st picture on Wednesday at noon.

Yep. I never realized how blunt the Kennedy's bow really is below the waterline. Reminds me of a tanker.

not so much blunt but fat in that area because of the sonar dome. it appears to go to about halfway thru the height of the black boot topping.
