Hi

Here is my first WIP here.
In fact my first ship build. So I am learning and experiencing new things.

I chose what I thought it was a rather simple kit.
Here is a review:

I started with cutting the main parts:

Hull needs some sanding:

Other parts needs some cleaning too:

One side will be open to show the embarcation.
Hangar is painted in Gunze H308. Then details are painted light gray. A deep gray wash is then applied.

Same process with NH90 hangar:

Hull can now be assembled:

rear deck is glued:

And then front:

At every step you need to check assembly with several dry fit, sanding...
A bit disapointing.

Structures are ready:

Structures are glued, and some gaps are filled with putty.

Some more assembly progress:

Please note the fabulous engineering to maintain the gun... there is none despite what is shown on instructions... come on...

Image

You have to do some sanding fin fin sandpaper:

Exocet missiles launchers:

20mm guns are replaced with streched sprue:

And now first fights with PE parts... so tiny...

Easier here:

The whole model is primed with Alclad filler:

Some fin sanding is needed to make some defaults to disapear.

Hull is painted with Gunze acrylics:

Image

Then masked with Tamiya 2mm Vinyl tape:

Image

Floating line is painted tire black:

Image

And then masked with antoher strip of Tamiya tape:

Image

Decks are painted dark grey:

Structures are painted light gray (Gunze H308)

Image

....And decks painted again in dark grey, hand brush this time.

Image

Not sure what proces is the best. DEck first/masking/structures?
or Structure, the hand brushed decks...?

Still need some light touch up...

Please feel free to comment, to give advices, and criticisism.

Some progress

I made some touch ups with light gray.

Image

The ship is then clear coated:

Image

I started weathering with chipping effect.
The solution is sprayed, and after drying a very diluted off white coat is applied.

Image

The coat is then worked with water and a brush:

Image

Some rust is added using enamel product.

Weathering continues with a global dark wash combining Blue Black and Deep grey.

Lighter salt stains are added:

I should have put the decals prior to weathering... my mistake.
Decals are a bit thick, I you should apply Softener several times:

She is taking shape!

Hi

I did some scratch on aerials with stretched sprue.
Rigging was done with ultrfine wire from Infini Models.

Final pics here:
