First of all: thank you for allowing me to be part of this community and thank you for all the exemplary and inspirational models on display. Its such a great place! I started working on my second ship. Model of choice: Trumpeters 1:350 Exeter beefed up with an Infini set. So far I painted the hull and added the decks, and then started weathering it all, mainly with oils. I now will start working on all the deck details and put her on some pedestals. This is how it stands now, hope you enjoy the pics! Happy modeling, Jeroen

Great work Jeroen! That will be a beauty again! :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

I like how the light grey chips add subtle detail and weathering.
One comment: you added some green colours around the waterline. That looks great in itself, but now the lower hull looks a bit too clean and red. Maybe it could use some faint greenish filters too?

Thanks guys for all the kind remarks. I might do something about the lower hull Marijn, but I first would like to see the bigger picture so I'll wait wit that for a bit!

I have been working on the first layer of extra details on the upper decks. This is mostly etchings, although some of it are the original plastic parts of the kit. She's starting to look busier now. I'm currently working on the front boat house and deck, which I'm approaching as a little kit in itself. More pictures soon! Hope you enjoy what you see, happy modeling, Jeroen

I finished the forward upper structure. The only thing that needs to be added is the mast and the armament, which I will do at a later stage. I'm at around 400 etchings total now, but they add so much to the model that I really enjoy making the effort. Next focus will be on the stacks. I try to work through the centerline of the ship, then outwards, so I can get to the places I want. Hope you enjoy the pics, all comments welcome, happy modeling, Jeroen

Hey Willie, Marijn, thanks for the kind words. I tried to incorporate some of your suggestions Marijn, including the way to paint the railings. It makes all the difference. I am now working on the stacks. I still havent figured out how I'm going to do the support wires for those. EZ-line, stretched sprue.... still some stuff to figure out!

Hello Jeroen,

I noticed the railings! :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

My personal preference would go to black stretched sprue for those. Contrary to EZ line, they have a stiffnes to them that makes it easier to glue them to the deck while 'standing' them upright, and then gluing to the stack. Then heat with insence smoke the Jim Baumann way to tighten them.

I think EZ line is great for long cables, when sprue becomes difficult to stretch with a regular diameter. But the stack supports should not be very long.

Nice work, DOn't know if it's too late for you but there is a walkway below the bridge that Trumpeter missed.
