I am not so experience in modelling and I choose simple model (for the first look) for the next project.
"Ashizuri" is not popular like "Yamato", "Hood" or "Bismarck" but it's hard to imagine "Big Gun" forces without auxiliary ships...
...So, step by step...
In a web I find only two pictures of this ship, or I should say grayscale and colorized versions of one photoshot.

...Display stand and the bottom modified a little bit. The kit gives the option to assemble waterline or full-hull model but I prefer full-hull ships...

Than the halves of hull were glued. You can see the gaps. I used CA-glue as a putty few times...

Anchor chain added. Capstans made of aluminum rod. I used L'Arsenal chain 16 links per cm...

Comparision of chains (left to right): Flyhawk FLMFH10026, L'Arsenal 16 links/cm, L'Arsenal 11 links/cm, Artwox bonus for IJN "Jingei" wooden deck. As you can see first chain is more preferable (but I have only 20 cm of Flyhak chain and 51 cm of L'Arsenal).

For the future, you can try to "squash" the circular L'Arsenal chains by clamping it in a vice, then pulling it taut, and using a pair of pliers to squeeze the links so they're more rectangular. It'll reduce their link/cm count, but would look more realistic.

Thank you very much! I shall try this technique on another project. For "Ashizuri" too late now...
I got plenty kicks already from this model: gaps, panel lines on sides, portholes...

Assembling commenced in March 2019. While sanding of hull the panel lines and fenders (I dont know the purpose and name of I- and L-shaped ledges) were partly missed, I found it after primer painting. Primer was removed, panel lines closed by Gunze Sangyo Liquid Putty. New fenders (may be protection for cooling system outlets) were made.
As experienced modelers I had a wish to make PE portholes but than I was not satisfied with te result. PE parts were removed, portholes drilled with 0,7 mm bit, closed with stretched sprue. New holes made with 0,45 mm drill bit... 0,3 mm copper wire used for the new bollards...

0,45 mm portholes and fairleads (0,18 mm copper wire). Another my mistake - fairleads must be closer to the ship's sides. And no idea how to make fairleads more realistic in 1/700 scale.

That's some very intensive porthole work. I'm interested in how this kit builds up.

Very nice detail work here. About the fairleads, maybe you can flatten them a little (copper is quite flexible) and fill out the curves near the deck using either thick paint or Kristal Klear.

Thanks a lot, Pieter. I shall try.

Japanese modeler HSN5656 (unfortunately I don't know his name) made great research for "Ashizuri"- and "Sunosaki"-Class Combat Support Ships here: https://hsn5656.blog.fc2.com/blog-category-16.html.
I made the account in FC2 Blog for communication with this Gentleman, got the explanation in English for one of his scheme. But my account was blocked and I did't save his messages.

So... Main particulars

That is a very, very smart jig for the hawser reels. Great work and paint.

Great subject, and excellent work so far!

Donald McNarry describes such a jig (but in wood) in his 1955 (!!!) book 'Building miniature ships', but for cutting gun barrels at identical lengths.
Now I see it actually works!
Have to try that myself...

Thanks a lot! Hello everybody!

Looks like Assembly manual gives wrong position of funnel. It must be turned on 180 degrees (but I am not sure).

Kindly asking assistance from IJN funs. I don't know the purpose of this part. What is it? To my mind this is type93 13 mm machine gun.
