In-progress shots of USS Wisconsin 1/350. The client I'm building this for wants a more museum-type builder style model...pristine and unweathered, but at sea. Still lots to do. Nothing is glued down in these shots. blast bags are shiny, cracks everywhere....like I said: In progress... I'm having a lot of fun with this project. It's a good challenge and a nice kit with great accessories from Pontos and Veteran.

Wisky is a bit different from the others if you want full accuracy. I didn't realize you had even started let alone were this far along or I would have brought this up sooner. If you want to know I'll send you a list later but it'll involve some scratch building and repainting in a few areas.

Other than that she's very nice and clean so far; nice job :thumbs_up_1:

Okay...thanks for the offer. I'll take anything you've got. The Pontos set does a pretty good job and the client I'm doing this for doesn't seem to be overly crazy about exact duplication. The paint scheme has to stay as is within reason. In our research, we came across just about a million variations of the grays and their placements on this ship and we ultimately settled on this variation which is pretty much a copy of a very clear photograph of Wis that he sent me. But nonetheless, I'd be interested to see your reference for sure...
These are my go-to reference pictures.

What kind of seascape are you going to put her in, Chris?

The guy wants a very conservative presentation. Calmish, blue waters, just a bit of wake. Not much weathering. No rock and roll on this one.

No...actually I'm kind of enjoying this build. This is a far more pristine build than I normally do so is a good challenge to keep my craft extra high. A nice easy going sea will be interesting to make. I intend to make this water a bit more blue than I usually go. I don't know. I AM a little disappointed that the wake and whitewater effects are to be low key. But it will be a good challenge to see if it can still be interesting.

Where are you going to put the waterline? Is the "water" going to be a bit deep so as to see some of the underwater hull?

Regards: Tom

The water's going to be at deepest along the bottom edge of the bootstrip and as High as mid-to top. Client wants no red showing.

Thanks...apparently she never had blast bags on the 5" guns at this time; just got the bad news; they'll have to be fixed. No biggie, new guns are in the mail. Just kind of a pain!

Bro, I've been doing some research after we talked last night and I think you're missing some fire extinguishers behind that ammunition locker on A deck....

Seriously, though. Clean builds are a PAIN. Keep it up.

There's still much subtle weathering which really brings it to life even though it's a clean build. Very hard to achieve without overdoing it
and not looking just some blob of gray imo.

Very nice indeed.

It's actually a lot more weathered than it was before; especially the flight deck. I'm just keeping it really low key and avoiding certain things I normally do like vertical striations on the hull etc.

Damn, that had to be almost tear-inducing!

I bet you could easily pull off a "surrender" diorama with the 1/200 Trumpy Missouri kit...it would be simply awesome.

Thanks...
AFter this, no more Iowa class for a LOOOONG time lol! I've seen that 1/200 thing decked out and it's insane. I've got the Bismarck on my shelf waiting for a rainy year with 10 pounds of PE to go with it. I get tired thinking about it.
