I received a digital copy of the battleship IJN Fuso in 1:250 scale from Digital Navy. Yes I said digital copy because this model is made of paper. All I have to do is print out the parts I need and go to work. If I mess up all I need to do print out more parts. A modelers dream really. To give you a feel for the size of the model the hull when finished will be 32.5 inches long. That's right nearly 3 feet. Since this is a paper model there won't be much painting. This is going to be about construction. Lots of folding and rolling. As soon as I can gather the supplies I need I will start.

I just love these Japanese battleships with their pagoda superstructures. The Fuso had the unique claim of having the tallest superstructure ever built at the time. The model will windup being nearly 10 inches tall when completed. I'm really looking forward to this. I hope I can pull this off. Here are some pictures of a finished model. Really cool stuff.

Good luck! I can't imagine how much patience it takes to build paper models. I lose it with the PE!

I have built a smaller ship. The Fuso will be that ship times 10. Should be fun though.

I bought this card model years ago and tried many times to complete the pagoda mast but i never, ever got it right i don't even know if the cd still works.. i'll keep my eye out on your model and learn a few things from you

I'll do my best! Maybe you can restart yours and I can learn some things from you.

A thing to do in this case should be to assemble the various pagoda levels around the main tripod pole, getting this with a plastirod section. This should ensure that the whole thing sits straight.

Jim those are some spectacular pictures. I don't think I will be doing cross sectional view, but it was sure great to see.

The work begins by building the framing. Each part is made of three parts laminated together to gain a 1mm thickness. This is done to obtain the proper stiffness. Here are some progress pictures. Comments and questions are welcome.
