Hello, Bob,

Well, i mixed an alleged grey colour from some Gunze aqueous colours, starting with barley grey & addin some standard blue, IJN grey & 308 whateverit is grey, & although it looks a bit blue, i`m actually fairly happy with it. in fact, it`s nearly a perfect match for the box-art of the Udaloy by Trumpeter, The Pantalyev. This is the 1st time i have ever mixed my own shades for a ship,& although my Andropov ain`t as well made as yours, i`m quite happy with the result, & basically just glad i got enough of the custom mix to finish the job.

so, when can we expect an update on this build? I decided to go with the GMM set, from Hannants, & will hopefully pick it up this week. I got the smokestack/funnel/whatever the C- parts are mostly built, but the only camera in the house now is on my mobile/cell phone. not gonna happen!

Oh,has anybody seen the 130mm gun barrels by master barrels? they are on E-bay... search under ussr 350. opinion?

Dean Lynch, with a little >too< much vino, London UK.

Master Barrels are beautiful - if the eBay listing didn't have much pictures, here are some from the review on our site:

You have removed and repaired so lots of new pieces.
Such you have got to know about Kirov's pedantic of things?!
Somebodies pics from internet or books?

However I'm very surprised, that your the Kirov looks so awesome! :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

Great stuff, Bob! Keep going!

Great work, Bob! Would it be possible for you to take a picture of the comparison pieces from the top straight down? I'm just wondering if sanding the angled edges down would work to replicate the more correct angle.

Man, aren't you a badass?

:heh:

There's a foreigh-exchange student friend of mine in College Station, Texas who owns a coffee shop now who was SPETSNAZ for 5 years. He told me a couple of stories about the Kirov-class ships. The thing that he shakes his head at is how the Russian Navy insists on renaming ships all the time.

He said he liked Kirov, but she was useless to them. He described a time when they were in Chechnya and his unit was to survey a missile strike from a Kirov-class ship. He said he could not even see the missiles, but they were so loud they felt the sonic boom to their bones, and when they surveyed the buildings, there was nothing left of the targets. "Just huge ruts dug out of the ground."

It had to be SS-N-19 Shipwrecks. I had no idea the Russians ever made a land attack package for the Shipwreck. Learn something new every day...especially from the guys on the ground.

Quite the work you have there, Bob - beauty work on those 630 mounts.

I agree, Dave - never thought Shipwrecks could be directed against land targets, but I guess if their Midcourse Updates are directed from another source, they likely could be dropped on anything they wanted.

That's some nice work, Bob!
I wonder, where do you get your reference pictures?

The pictures all come from the Internet.

Thanks for the info. Can you post the links to pages? I'll try to find my way through. That is fantastic reference, quite certainly a must-have, if you want to build Kirov to some standard.
