Thanks guys. Here are some up to date pics. Im working on the turrets at the moment. Then I can prime , paint. Then on with the 25mm's and its about done. The single and triple 25mm nano dreads look good. The gun platforms in the kit were really thick so I tried using brass shim to make something more in scale. Harder to be symetrical than I expected. It worked out ok. I wish Id seen that there was Lion Roar and Finemolds items that would have done the job. Well at least I was learning some new skills. Pictures Ive seen show the ship to have no front jackstaff and the railings stop short of the bow. WHich looks a little odd.I hope thats correct, Hard to interpret some of those bleary pictures. Anyone got any info on that? Anyway thats were we are so far. Any advice? Please excuse my photography.

Forward jackstaffs are collapsible, and often lowered to the deckat sea. Ditto on the railings. Can show you several DD (not of this class, though) bow photos where a stretch of railing is down. Ususally, when the ship is preparing to nestle up to another ship. |

OK not a lot of movement but here's a update. Scratch built a new crows nest. modifications to the davits. All thinned and given new correct locations. The rear davits being outboard. No pe the right shape available but thinned I think they look ok. The torpedo launchers replaced by a better mold and windows and doors put on currently dry fit.. Front turret hollowed out and new barrel from .5mm tube. Blast bag from tissue and white glue. Rear AA turret made. Ammo boxes built. I cant make my mind out weather to put the gun sights on the nano dread 25mm triples's they look a bit big and out of scale to me. Depth charge projectors done. All I have to do before the prime and paint job is the H stove pipe on top of the steam pipe on the front funnel. Its proving to be harder to make than I thought. Im on my 4th attempt and getting frustrated. Any comments welcome ![]()

Looking very nice, any chance of talking us through that wonderful mast, scratch built is it ? I'm still stuck using the original plastic one's that come with the kit (any kit) and would love to know where you actually start building such a mast. ![]() |

Ill do an update in about 3 days. Its been a tough week at work and havnt really been in the right head space for 700 scale ![]() ![]() Alecap Ill try to add some mast stuff at that point. Though I dont have many words of original wisdom other than get a pair of vernier calipers and be very precise in your measuring. or things will go to hell fast ![]() More soon ![]() Allan |

Well overdue for an update. Afraid life's been getting in the way of building ![]() The guns are nano dread as is the searchlight. I painted that silver before painting it gray so you can see the reflector inside. Doesnt really show in the pics unfortunately. The roll off and ready racks are Lion Roar. The depth charges in them are Voyager. The navigation/ Station keeping lights on the rear mast were made of scrap pe and paper. Ive lightened colors by about 20 % for scale effect. Im about to do some minor touch up work. Put 3 cable reels on her before glossing it before weathering. Looks a bit bland now but Im sure that the later painting will set off the detail. So that's her about done. Just practicing how to make a base now. Never done that before so a bit anxious. So just the weathering rigging and base to go. Is that all. gulp ![]() ![]() Your comments are very welcome ![]()

Short update. Trying to do the weathering now. Never used oils before so all new territory here. Using the method in David Griffith's excellent new book. Using 3 coats of black. 2 of white and Ive just done 1 of the brown still to do the blue. its looking good. But to be honest I cant really tell if its too much or not enough. The pics appear a bit more washed out than in reality where the streaking is a bit more apparent in real life. Anyway feedback would be appreciated. After these its onto the detailing via pin wash. Slowly nearing completion ![]() Ignore the base. Ill be covering it with acrylic paste as I make the sea, waves and wake .The current colors to make coverage more visible as I work the paste.
