Hello to everyone,

Here are a few pics of my recent build, the Tamiya Yamato. I've tried to correct some of the kits errors, but not all.

PE-sets: Lion Roar, Eduard and WEM
Add. parts: Yamato upgrade parts from Ishida-san, Japan and tons of other stuff.

Main references: Anatomy of the Ship, plans from Miukikai and the new Fujimi 1/500 scale kit.

Some good news: The parts from Ishida-san will be avaiable soon over BMK (Burkhardt Masch), Germany. The Yamato
set is unbelievable..... Simply the best I've ever seen!

Hi mima, nice work!

Did you use the new Lionroar Super Set with this build, and if you did, can you tell me if you see much difference in the enclosed triple AA's between the plastic tamiya parts and the resin parts supplied by lionroar?

Also... have you finished the sub-assemblies shown (like the main superstructure, funnel) or is there more pe to add?

Thanks for sharing your Yamato, its looking great so far!

Yes, youre right. It's the new set provided by Lion Roar. The triples are copys of the original Tamiya parts, with a molded on door on the back. That's all!
There is some more PE to attach, but most of these parts are not provided in Lion Roars set. Let me say that the new set is great, but there are also a few issues....
Only basic detail for the main mast (mine was built from scratch), the PE wind baffles surrounding the bridge are nice, but not a 100% correct, the stairs on the back of the
bridge structure are not esay to install. I think they were designed for a correct dimensioned Yamato, not for the Tamiya kit.

The parts from Japan (Ishida-san) are a must have for any serious Yamato builder! I'll post a few pictures more later this evening, Thank you very much for your kind words!!

Best, Michael

Hello to all,

Two pictures of Ishida-sans Yamato upgrade set:

I'm in close contact to Ishida-san, he's currently working on a new set, with some new parts. It should be
avaiable in late August. I have become a great fan of his parts, and it's a great honor for me to use his
parts on my build!

See you soon,

Michael

Hi,

Ishida sans parts will be available at BMK soon.
BMK is sponsor of MWS and the link is on the mainsite.
Best regards

Marc

Michael, very impressive work with the PE. I haven't personally worked up the nerve to tackle Yamato yet, but some day, I'm sure. Like what you have done with the resin after market too. All in all, great work. Keep it up and let us see more updates soon, please.

Bob

Stunning stuff! Is there any possibilities to order these sets right now, from Ishida-san directly, or a japanese site or store?

Hello Michael

i am also looking forward to these wonderful upgrade sets! :woo_hoo:
Burkhardt has sent me a sample (the 1/700 IJN deck Equipment Set). What can i say, the quality is outstanding! :thumbs_up_1:
I plan to crowd the deck of my Amagi battlecruiser from Fujimi with those parts. The kit´s deck is quite empty and since my plan
is to build the ship as it might have looked at the outbreak of the war, it should look as busy as the Nagato class.

I have also preordered several of the 1/350 sets from Burkhardt, in order to upgrade my Aoshima Maya.
Deck Equipment set, Ventilator Set IJN Cruiser, General Sandbag Set, all in 1/350.

I followed your thread of upgrading the Tamiya Yamato, and i must say, that this is a fantastic project! :thumbs_up_1:
To be honest, by following your build up blog, i fell tempted to do a Yamato on my own.
Well, all the needed stuff is avaiable. The kit (Tamiya Yamato) is quite cheap, the aftermarket parts are also there. Be it
Lionroar (Upgrade Set, resin and photoetch), Veteran Models (open 12.7cm guns, open 25mm guns), Master Barrel (turned
barrels for 46cm, 15.5cm, 12.7cm, 25mm guns), KA Models (wood deck) and of course the wonderful sets from Ishida-san!

By the way, is the Yamato set that is shown in the pictures (resin parts) the actual set, and is it already available?
Or will this set be reworked, as you mentioned?

Greetings from the North Sea Coast,
Jan Schulz, SIG-Waterline, Germany :wave_1:

Hi denstore and Jan!

Well, there is nothing more left to say about these parts. They will enhance the look of every IJN model for sure!

Ishida-san is currently re-working a few parts in the set, to bring it up to actual research "standards". It should be
ready within the next 2-3 weeks.
Thank you for your kind words about my Yamato project, and I agree.... All parts to build a great model are avaiable
on todays market. And finaly, most of the kits errors can be fixed with a small amount of scratch building.

Have a nice day, thank you again!

Michael

Stunning build, Mima!

Too bad I won´t be in Telford this year, I´d have loved to see the model "in the flesh". A super build, very crisp and neat!

Best regards

Frank
