Hello friends,

After many hours of hard work, my Alaska is close to her maiden voyage.....
Most parts replaced by scratch build ones.... And my beloved L'Arsenal upgrades!

Hi Michi,

as still told on other place: A great job and amazing detailing with your Alaska!
But as good and correct the paint job is done ... I don't like that camouflage scheme, it hurts my eyes and hard to find all that well done details, because well hidden!

Hi Michi,

a great job done here and looks impressing good! Slowly I get lust to build old Tamiya's USS Missouri ... but, ehm ... no. Sorry, First my Essex in moment, second finishing of HMS Warspite and third will be around mid or end of November the IJN Mikasa .., not to forget my Varyag.

However,
I whish you have much fun with the bulk of 20mm Oerlikons here ...

Nice build! But I think that shields on 40mm (bofors) must be in more high position.

Thank you for you comments about the Alaska.... I must say that I'm happy to finish here in the near future. It was a hard piece of work, but I have learned a lot about how to build my own scratch parts. Here are a few pictures from the early days. As you can see, I'm dedicated to L'Arsenal parts!

Hi Michi,

the yellow parts are what you have made scratch and white things are Yankee Models, right? :rolf_3:

Ok, joke away, I have much experience with resin kits in 1/35 military vehicle area, but nothing at ships. Looking on model in this pure early stage, the Yankee kit looks in quality good. All the scrach builded things there, were they missing, wrong or in bad quality why you made in plastic sheet?

Cheers,
Christian

Hello Gents,

Thank you again for your comments!
Christian, the kit is a good starting point, but I was not that happy with some of the resin parts. Splinter shield etc. are to tick (over 1mm), that's why I have decided to replace them. The white metal parts are....
ehm..... :censored_2:
All in all, it was a very pleasant build... And I'm happy with the result.

Daniel, You' will see her in Zeisborn for sure!

Best, Michael
