Despite all this X-Mess-stress I found a small space for some advent tinkering :-)

Started as usual in the smaller scale ...

Image

... and then scratched the fitting Brodi-Stove for it by some scrap materials.

Some tests ...

Image

...for the BBQ-skewer holder and some brass nibbling ...

Image

... bent ...

Image

... and the skewer itself by filing a round brass into a pointed square section.

Image

Some trials in soldering but finally it fitted :-).

Image

The exhaust air propelled skewer drive was easy ...

Image

... but fitting a 1 mm hole for the external axle bearing into a 1 mm brass profile needed the magical trick of flattening the material before drilling :-).

Image

Then some handles and the handrail around and soon some paint could be applied.

I think I will go for a nice eloquent black ;-)

Astounding. Marijn is right; that's a complete model of its own.

Thank you Sirs, very indulgent :-)

Others were not. "Too uneven", "roasting spit too thick" and "handles meant for giants"

So out the scalpel and flattening all uneven surfaces and corners, getting the soldering iron out and eliminating the oversized spit.

Image

Filed a new squared and tapered spit onto some 0,5 mm brass wire.

Inserted a new smaller bearing into the spits driving wheel ...

Image

Image

... and mades some more ergonomic handles.

Image

The result looks like this:

Hope that is fine now ;-)

And we stay hot!

Did not realised that a whole bunch of my pictures has been published in Modellmarine.de

So as a small X-Mess surprise, here are the pictures of the great modeling exhibition in Rochefort last October:

And a bit of fresh permanent make-up :-)

Image

Plenty of white, ochre and some red. Was tricky to mix but now it is "Hello Kitty!"

So the 1765 version is half way ready already and the connoisseur recognizes the 2018 version on the "Hello Kitty" teint. Some versions in between are still missing.

One more cast was still left, so one more to be done.

Image

Image

So we have a funny little in-beween-meal, hope it suits your taste.

Image

There we go :-)

Greatest gift of dafi? Knowing how to make chips :-)

The characteristic of the 1920 version is the flat outer surface, so got the chisel out ...

Image

... dug holes ...

Image

... and flatened all.

Image

See the "Broad Arrows" indicating it kings property ;-)

Very nice! :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

In fact, I prefer the look of the 'salmon pink' over the brighter yellow...

Looking forward to the 1920's version!

I grew up with the yellow black.

Built a quite a few Airfix / Revell Victory models over the decades in the glorious and warmly familiar black and yellow....

I have seen the " new" correct version-- it being a mere 12 miles down the road from me

It will tale a decade or two for me to get used to it...!

Slowly we move on.

To spread some light into why the port holes were planked over :-)

Image

Next thing first planking trials.

Image

Still quite topsy-turvy but one can see the direction :-)

Found some time to tinker a bit on that exotic gem :-)

Got a signal gun - one of 6 on the ship for salutes - and one historical barrel. The rest will be windows. The gun is a self made brass one made in my Dremel to give it a slightly conical shape. Also the chainboards with the accurate number and position for the irons is there together with the small port that gives access to the shrouds.

Thnk you Jim :-)

Somehow Fast-Food-Tinkering does not work for me somehow.

I already started planking the outside with poly but could not find a pattern for the width of the planks - Frustration taking over ...

Then I realised that as I cutted the ports "free hand - first sight" was the problem, as the planks are following - unlike the 1765 original planking - exactely the row of the ports. So considered a second (or even more look) to get things straight and realised taht all planks have more or less same width. So I took the illustrtion programm and started to push the measures until it fitted the photographs and suddenly it all worked out. 21 cm planks it was what I needed and some correction on the ports.

Image

Also Business as usual - removing the first trial of planks :-)

Image

New planks were cut ...

Image

... ports newly defined ...

Image

... cleared with plenty of blood, sweat and tears ...

Image

.... and cut free.

Just see on the inside of the ports the difference to the first fit :-O

Image

Fixed the first goodies, soon more about that :-)

Image

And here we go, twice the same section of hull, just a bit more than 100 years of difference.
